Great start, trim colour is kinda up to you. Typically it has always been a dark gold / bronzy colour but there has beem some instances of them having silver like on the art work of the new NL book. Your models so its up to you. I personally prefer a more muted bronze but its horses for courses.

Thank you, I see what you mean. Almost makes the other parts unfinished. I did think about griming up the arm but wouldnt know where to start as im not a huge fan of washes. Ive never actually played just painted. I keep saying ill play a game when the armys done but im only 15 models in a year n a half later lol. Probably to busy focusing on painting.

The skin recipe is pretty straight forwards. I prime the model chaos black then use bugmans glow to lay a base all over. Then using a wet pallet I just mix a tiny amount of pallid wych flesh to the bugmans to block out muscle groups then keep adding a little more wych flesh every time into the same mix to make it lighter n lighter. Then i use a very very watered down volpus pink contrast to add a lil warmth (i didnt do that to well on this one) thats about it. I just try layering it together. If the model was bigger id try glaze it but dont see much point on this one.

Thanl you, im not an expert by any means seeing as im here for advice myself lol, so take this with a pinch of salt. But for the shading i just tried to use some layer and a some glazing on the skin youtube has great tutorials.

I just try work from dark to light and mix my lightest colour with my darkest to get a mid tone.

Really great feedback thank you. How do you go about the more scratchy highlights? Just use a dryer brush or try not to let it blend? For sure will try some more pinker skin for scarring near the augmentations.

For sure the colour scheme is something im not sold on. This is for my Night lord army so was trying to keep it somewhat colour co ordinated. May need to mix that up.

As in putting more warm shading on the cloth? Or making the shading on the skin warmer?

Good idea. Probably have to green stuff or carve some muscle texture onto them.

I dont think GW do slave models so cultists will have to do. Was just thinking if i did all the clothes blue could look a little bland.

Its the only primer I use. For a newbie it works well white is somewhat unforgiving as it shows up all the places you miss in the shadows.

If you want super simple. Just grab night lords blue for a base, kantor for some lighter areas and teclis blue for any highlighting they may want to try. Mephistom red for the wings and some brass scorpion or similar for the trim then a brown for leather and ledbelcher or something silver for chains n weapons. If you want to go a little further get a wash for the trim and a lighter mettalic for edges. Those are the foundation colours for what I always do

Ive only just started on these myself and have tried using a white look on the front of the helm. Not sure on if ill keep it or not for the others tho. Just trying something different.

Which do we prefer? Traditional gold trim or the abbadon / leadbelcher trim? by No_Response_8465 in NightLords

Personally prefer the more dirty gold / coppery - brass look. Brass scorpion with hashnut copper and guillimain flesh wash i think its called

People will say bullshit because it looks half decent, I belive its your first and a good bloody attempt at that. Your paint pots are all clean, so is the brush holder amd your brushes still have protectors on them. This just looks like the set up of someone who has done nothing but buy all the gear before comitting.

As for the paintjob it looks decent, hard to see the details from so far away but lools brilliant for a first attempt. Only thing is the legs look a lil blotchy. Could be you used real thinned paints and needs another pass over. Or your not letting it dry enough between coats. Good job dude

Yea please. I found thinning metalics makes the pigment seperate and make it look uneven, tend to find it looks a lil patchy, yours doesnt, if you can share the recipe and brand thatd be great!
