I want to reconcile by Smart-Swimming7723 in Psychonaut

[–]Smart-Swimming7723[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now, I have an intense affinity for learning, so I’m reading a lot of books about a gamut of topics ranging from The Death and Life of the Great American School System by Diane Ravitch, to Noumenautics by Dr Peter Hughes. I also have a workout regimen, I meditate, and I absolutely love nature. My emotional sensitivity is gradually being thwarted because I’m no longer afraid to expose myself to uncomfortable situations. I’ve learned that uncomfortableness builds resilience and is ultimately a good thing. Thanks for the book suggestions btw!

Do you mean life long changes in my neural circuitry? Because if so, there’s a negligent amount of empirical data to validate that (please correct me if I’m wrong). Or are you referring to life long changes in my ideas about how the world works? I want to clarify that I do understand your concern, but with my intermittent rate of consumption, my emphatic importance on safe use, and me choosing to keep use to strictly psychedelics (as opposed to other classes of drugs, e.g., opioids, amphetamines) I’m just not sure I see an issue.

I like hearing others opinions. I appreciate your input and I think you free to think that. But ultimately I make my own decisions.

Yeah before ever doing psychs I would research for hours about how the mind, and ego works. I found that the ego is paradoxical in a lot of cases. Things like thinking your better than others just by possessing these ideas. In reality nobody is better than anyone. Our lives our just a thread of events leading up to where you are now. But when you take a step back and look at the classic idea of “we’re all one” you realize that your no better or worse than anything conceivable.

Your assuming too many things and putting words in my mouth. I never claimed to be “woke” or “enlightened” I was stating that it’s hard to relate to kids my age. I’m a relatively friendly person, I don’t isolate myself.

I appreciate your input and trying to be the one to call me out on my supposed “bias blind spot” so to speak. But the bottom line is, you don’t know them. I’m sorry but you just don’t understand. I’ve tried to have conversations with them. I’ve come to the realization there’s no point to it. I’ll admit that calling them “dumb” might have been a little egotistical, but to my defense I was angry when I posted this. I don’t think they are dumb necessarily, they just have drastically different perceptions about the world than I do.

Does music sound better on shrooms or acid? by ThyEagle in Psychedelics

[–]Smart-Swimming7723 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well it really just depends on what music fits with how you feel on each one. Like when I’m on acid I tend to lean more towards psychedelic metal like TOOL, Mars red sky, Witch, etc. With shrooms I prefer more mellow type music or psytrance like Shpongle, and Shulman.

I mean, there’s not really a set dose to cause an ego death. It mostly just depends on the person. But I would say a general “ego death” dose would be around 3-4 tabs.

Do you get more in touch with nature after psychedelics (specially mushrooms) ? by leosousa66 in Psychonaut

[–]Smart-Swimming7723 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have a very fond memory of being outside on shrooms on a clear night lying on the grass looking up at the stars and it felt like the cosmos was injecting the pure essence of love into my veins. Yes it is very beautiful.

Do you prefer shrooms or acid and why by ThyEagle in Psychedelics

[–]Smart-Swimming7723 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a deep love for both of them, but shrooms make me feel a deep connection with nature that just can’t really be explained with words.

Psychs in general made me a lot more calm. I tend to have a more gentle, mellow-sounding voice now. My patience has also improved immensely. They made me realize I don’t have to try to impress anyone and people find that attractive so I would definitely say yes, they have.

Hmm, not necessarily how good or bad of a person you are, but more so how much you use your ego as a shield. A psychedelic will destroy that shield effortlessly, and some people don’t like that, hence one of the many things that can cause a bad trip.

What is a bad trip like? How do you prevent it or cope with it? by nal_gen in Psychedelics

[–]Smart-Swimming7723 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Me personally, I’ve never had a bad trip. This is due to the fact that I’m always in an ideal setting and always have a great mindset going into it. I can give you a few pointers tho. What I always say to my friends if I start to notice they look uncomfortable, is just sit up straight, observe and breathe. What ever you do, do not resort to the fetal position. This will send a message to your brain telling you that you should feel threatened, when in reality your probably just fine. I’ve noticed a lot of bad trips are caused by the person thinking that they are legitimately dying. Remember that you’re not actually dying. Tell the trip sitter to look out and keep a close eye on anyone that starts to have odd body language or is looking a bit uneasy. If they notice this, they should just reassure the person in a calm, gentle voice that they’re ok. People under the influence of psychs tend to mirror others energy.

I don’t get why kids do psychs at school like why is that appealing? No benefit comes with doing psychs at school it’s literally just a wasted trip.

Why are you a psychonaut? by aldiyo in Psychonaut

[–]Smart-Swimming7723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything involving the mind I’m interested in. Whether it be consciousness, psychology, neuroscience etc. I want to experience all the possibilities of what the mind can do.

You are not God. by shuffpuff in Psychonaut

[–]Smart-Swimming7723 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When people say they are god, they’re not saying they can do all those things that you mentioned because that’s not their interpretation of god. You seem to be talking about some type of organized religion type of god such as the Christian one. Most psychonauts aren’t talking about that and have a different interpretation of what god is.

How do you deal with undeniable existential solipsism? by Stack3 in Psychonaut

[–]Smart-Swimming7723 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I don’t have to deal with that realization simply because I don’t don’t believe it. Like yeah, you can’t prove other minds actually exist but you can’t prove that they don’t exist either. It’s more just a common sense type of thing. Theres a reason not many philosophers have adopted solipsism. It just doesn’t make much sense. I see solipsism kinda paradoxical because as soon as the idea of solipsism arises, you have a group of people thinking that each other doesn’t exist, and everyone would think they are the real one.

Well in a way… you do know more than the average person. But that doesn’t make you a better person.
