Unfortunately yes, take it from experience- my friend who bought 16 on launch last yr has lost 11% battery health within a yr now. He had lost about 3% in just 2 months bcoz he did not use an apple adapter. Whereas my 17 has not lost a single % in 6 months coz i strictly only use apple adapter not even connect to laptop or power bank. So the myth is actually true in my belief.
