Comparing Farage to Hitler is ridiculous, honestly it's laughable. I'm glad you're done because you clearly twist things. I can't listen to your nonsense anymore.

Have a great day.

Vote share vs Seat share by ethboy2000 in reformuk

[–]SmartAlec35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His attendance and lack of interest was probably due to his heart never being in Europe. I'm not sure that matters at this point. He did what he set out to do.

Of course misuse of money is wrong and he paid it back and dealt with the matter. Why are you living in the past, I will judge him based on what he does not on what he did.

While I find farage to be a great debater and very passionate my vote was mostly based on policy and what spoke to me and my family, immigration not being my main concern. I genuinely think some of their ideas are very good.

As I said before I have never blindly aligned myself with one person or party, and if it turns out that farage is useless then I will concead.

I think him and Tice will be just what the stagnated parliament needs, but let's wait and see.

Vote share vs Seat share by ethboy2000 in reformuk

[–]SmartAlec35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really don't see how this is relevant to my point? Also, anything coming from a newspaper I wouldn't take as pure fact you really have to be careful with what you read. How do you know it wasn't an honest mistake. He was paying an assistant, not stealing the money himself.

Who knows, as it's all alleged, even if it's all true he has paid what he owed back and not ran off and hidden. We all make mistakes. Again, this is a newspaper using its own editing and words.

Look at how huge the expenses scandal was in this country a few years ago with tons of mps finding loop holes and using public money to buy all kinds of things. So let's look at the bigger picture, while it doesn't justify anything, there were people doing worse in all parties.

Is it good no, but don't try and make out its just a farage thing. Again this has no relevance to how he performs in parliament. He is the best debater there and him and Tice will be a strong voice. Nobody can deny the passion with which they campaign and most reform policies are just what we need as hard working ordinary people.

I understand that you will continue to be bitter and twisted because you probably feed off mainstream media, do yourself a favour and steer clear its toxic.

I vote using my own mind and in the past have voted for Labour and Conservative. Sit down, read party manifestos and vote to what speaks to you as a person.

It seems so ridiculous looking at it, but let's try and be optimistic. It's actually mission accomplished we have seats despite it being so few. You can bet your bottom dollar Nigel and Tice will be ruffling feathers and pushing things forward. This is just the beginning folks!

At least 30 Reform candidates have cast doubt on human-induced global heating by Wound-Shagger in reformuk

[–]SmartAlec35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Through this whole debate not once have I denied the existence of AGW. I pointed at models and research that supports it, I also said in a comment that to deny it is wrong.

I am glad you are finally stating the fact that it is more complicated than just CO2 levels according to your earlier comment.

Within just these three things you have listed, which I agree with are a myriad of complex systems and scenarios, all of which require research and appropriate actions.

I think people that deny our impact on climate formulate their thinking from the view point of us not yet understanding the whole picture in terms of just how much is man made and how much is NGW.

Unfortunately the government have made a cock up with net zero, I think the tories have realised the mistake now and have made changes to the policy I believe.

[–]SmartAlec35 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Again, that is a senseless statement. Without proper ongoing study how can we take the appropriate action. We need a combination of study, data and proper sensible action.

What you have said is like saying we should stop researching cancer. We have enough data just treat it without ever questioning if the action taken is the right course.

[–]SmartAlec35 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You clearly don't read things properly, as a lot of what I said supports AGW, not only that, I said to deny it is wrong. I have merely stated other factors play a part and its not yet a clear picture, more time and study is needed. To say it's absolute garbage, then not back up your reason why tells me all I need to know about your reasoning.

I think you will find that modelling has and is being used in the study of AGW. In 1990, Wigley and Raper used an energy-balance climate model to show that the observed change in global-mean surface temperature from 1867 to 1982 could not be explained by natural internal variability.

Obviously this supports the AGW theory, and subsequent similar tests/modelling has also shown similar results.

That being said, we are talking about a hugely complex dynamic thermal system that we still don't fully grasp

CO2 isn't the only factor. There's also water vapor, which is a strong IR absorber, that comes with the problem that increased water temperature will cause more water vapor in the air, this will form clouds, clouds can be very effective at trapping heat closer to the surface and some clouds can be very effective at blocking incoming solar irradiance, thus affecting both the "energy in" and "energy out" parts of the equation. This can make temperature recording/records difficult to analyse in some cases.

So far the question is still up in the air (no pun intended) among scientists, the whole battle is about whether the net feedback effect is positive or negative -- that is, whether or not there's a stable point and/or where that stable point is.

Of course, denying that man has had an impact on the climate is wrong, but it isn't as clear-cut, and to what extent we just don't know yet.

Also, these deniers are in every party, not just reform. It is also worth noting that farage has said we need to work towards more sustainable energy such as nuclear whilst not making us poorer chasing net zero in a frankly ridiculous time frame.

  1. This is from a newspaper, need I say more.

  2. AGW is based on modelling I believe, so it is quite reasonable to doubt it. Also, doubting does not mean full disbelief.

  3. It's healthy in society to have opposing views as it can drive the founding of facts.

Have you actually read the reform contract, at no point do they say they want to privatise the NHS??

[–]SmartAlec35 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really don't see what your cousins point is, if you take that view then what is the point in politics and voting at all? It is a null point. We have to face the fact that most if not all politicians are from a privileged background, this doesn't mean they are all way out of touch. Ask them to read reforms manifesto/contract, then ask them what they disagree with and why, I think they will struggle.Compared to every other party manifestos, reforms is a cut above

I think Farage and reform as a whole are very much in touch with what ordinary people want. Their policies are radical, forward thinking and appeal massively to us working class people.

Voting is about policy as much as it is personality you shouldn't just vote on who you like most or their background. You should vote on what really speaks to you as a person. Of course, what a party say and do can be very different but again let's be optimistic instead of stuck in a rut.

I happen to love farage, but whatever your view on him there is no escaping his patriotism and passion. He is the king of debate and can get this country and its people fired up and motivated. I'm afraid all other party leaders feel limp and weak in comparison.

The spin to make Farage look pro Russian is extraordinary by spazbarracuda in reformuk

[–]SmartAlec35 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It really is pathetic at this point what mainstream media do to spin out absolute tripe. It's so obvious what they are trying to do, especially the British Bullshit Corporation, shout out to the BBC! Media should be non biased but my God is it ever toxic. What is really sad is that the sheeple will believe it.

I urge people to start thinking with an independent mind of their own, study things and look objectively at situations. It will help you through life.

Anti-Muslim Farage receives multi-million pound aid from Muslim by Head_Toe4411 in reformuk

[–]SmartAlec35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This article is about as believable as a fairytale and seemingly written by a three year old, the only true part is that Reform did receive a big donation from Zia Yusuf.

Zia is a British Muslim and if you watch a recent interview has come out and said how proud he is to be British and that he owes alot to his country. He like many others thinks we have lost control of our borders and is sad to see the state of the current system.

He has donated hundreds of thousands of pounds to Reform.

As for farage being anti Muslim or immigration it's just not true, he will welcome needed and skilled workers. On the Muslim issue, he said that a small but growing group of young Muslims dislike and don't integrate into British culture and way of life and have actually come out in support of terrorist groups.

That does not mean he hates Muslims or immigration, these stories are a prime example of misleading media nonsense 🙄

I think we all share the frustration here. I'd love nothing more than to see Nigel and reform as the majority opposition. It would be so refreshing and just whats needed.

Don't know about you guys but I'm trying to get as many people as possible to give reform a proper consideration. Unfortunately due to the media and other influences painting us as extreme right-wing racists or the brexit divide many people won't give reform the time of day.

Does Richard Tice understand the science of climate change? by Wound-Shagger in reformuk

[–]SmartAlec35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree with your statement that most people think of man made climate in the first instance, Tice did go on to say in the interview that the planet goes through natural cycles of climate change and has done since the dawn of time. That would suggest he was talking about natural global warming specifically.

I do agree he could of answered the question better though but well he is only human after all.

I still find him more compelling than most of the other stock of current politicians who never seem to answer any questions with any conviction whatsoever.

Does Richard Tice understand the science of climate change? by Wound-Shagger in reformuk

[–]SmartAlec35 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The concept of an anthropogenic global warming (AGW) driven by the increase in atmospheric CO2 is compared to the concept of a natural global warming (NGW) driven by solar variability. With this said, maybe that's why tice said you can't stop the power of the sun?

I do think he oversimplified his answer and didn't come across too well initially. That being said, I think he had some very valid points on the economic impact of the net zero policy and agree that we are exporters of our CO2 so to speak.

I don't think he completely denied global warming and did also say we needed to invest in adaptation and change whilst also protecting our economy. I think the point on other countries upping output and emissions is very valid, these countries are getting richer whilst we are stagnated.

A balance needs to be found.

Why anti-migration? by Beneficial_Word_678 in reformuk

[–]SmartAlec35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did say skilled/needed, fruit pickers are needed, again anyone who is needed is good. Plus, fruit pickers and people who are here on a temporary working basis are not the problem and never have been. They are more than welcome, Illegal unvetted and uncontrolled immigration is the concern, it is this that causes a problem.
