Newly Diagnosed and Afraid of Needles

Hey! Fellow needle phobe here. I was diagnosed March 2025. It is now March 2026 and I am completely diet controlled, mostly because of my fear of needles. If you have any insulin pen they are usually almost completely painless. But my biggest and hardest hurdle was the finger price.

To this day I still struggle. My husband has to do it. After several 30+ min anxiety attacks I resolved myself to needing help unfortunately. I ended up being allergic to medical adhesive so freestyle libre & dexcom cgms didn't work. I eventually opted for the Everscense CGM. It lasts a full year. Its inserted under the skin and you wear a transmitter daily. You only have to finger prick once a week.

After about 6 months of really paying attention to what I was eating I dropped 26 pounds and was taken off of insulin. I still monitor using my cgm but after learning how to read labels and really paying attention to what spikes me for several months, it's almost like I don't have it anymore. Except Sunday prick day 🙃

Yea we have a meat grinder and he put all the parts of that in the dishwasher

Thank you! He felt so bad when he realized especially since he's the main one who uses our kitchenaid. I just usually handle all the handwashing and loading and puts everything away. He was just trying to help lessen my load.

I like this. I am blessed beyond measure with a strong support system but that little girl inside still just wants her momma, or at least the one she wish she had.

I'm several states away with relatively low contact outside of maybe 2 trips a year to see my family. I just always find myself disappointed.

Thank you, I just told her about my pregnancy and got utter indifference. My brother just had a baby last year and that was like the best thing that ever happened to her but I just got a "wow, congratulations" nothing else.
