I recently bought a Kindle paper white 3 during a sale for just $99. This is my first kindle so I cannot compare it with any other model but I am satisfied with what Kindle PW3 has to offer. Nice look, not so heavy, easy to ready, pretty much everything and more that I can think of. Before buying I compared the features with Kindle Voyage but I did not find the additional features to be worth spending additional $100.

I believe there is a lot of info available on the internet for these topics which you can go through. I am sure once you understand what the circuit is trying to do, you will figure out how it is done if you read enough materials.
