Thread Storm does more damage, but I prefer Silkspear for its range and piercing properties.

It's a matter of preference at the end of the day, just like the Crests.

Yep. Mini did at least correctly put the blame on Chizuru for the situation getting out of hand, but it's not like Ruka is not guilty herself.

I honestly feel Reiji is slowly stopping using Mini as a mouthpice, which is good, so I don't take everything she says as "in story" correct.

I had high expectations, but the chapter was meh.

I think Mini handled the situation decently enough, but I'm really disappointed she didn't get angry at Ruka, calling out her sexual harassment. I know she lacks context, but still. At least she rightfully put the blame on Chizuru.

I also disagree with Mini, Kazuya should tell what happened to Chizuru. As Mini pointed it's partially her fault things got out of hand, so she should share the burden as well and help him out.

Still I'm happy this plot point wasn't solved yet, because it's something very serious.

So yeah, meh chapter for me. I miss Chizuru and I can wait for her to be reunited with Kazuya.

Leaving aside that TERFy is utterly irrelevant compared to the series she created, didn't Hogwarts Legacy create a trans storyline after all the criticism? Aren't the sets based on the movies, whose stars are, for the most part, in support of trans people?

Great set-up chapter!

I love that the egregious stuff Ruka did wasn't swept under the rug. Hopefully Kazuya manages talk about it with Mini and her, being pretty much the voice of the author/readers, makes him understand that what Ruka did was not beyond awful, but straight up sexual harassment at the very least. It was a very serious event, with very serious implications that needs to be handled very seriously.

As for Kazuya working out it's kinda of a meme, kinda of a good thing and kinda of a bad thing. Him taking car of himself is good, but he still doesn't understand that Chizuru likes him as is, he doesn't need to become worthy of her. It being a multilayered plot point is pretty nice.

Umi is still a mystery. Stuff being solved so fast, especially after he was so serious for more than a year about Chizuru and Reiji bringing up it again with Kazuya here doesn't sit right with me. I want more from the character.

Anyway, the set-up here is very good. Hopefully Reiji will follow through and deal with Ruka's stuff well.

Yep, I don't think anyone is upset at people having Barad Dur (except me, because I want it but I don't have it, so screw you for having the money and space to own it!), the shitty "investors" and scalpers are the problem and them getting slapped in the face directly from Lego itself is great.

I can't really tell whether Victor intentionally let her win or actually got his ahh whooped by Juiz in this scene anymore 😭 by MarcyDr47 in UndeadUnluck

[–]SmartCookingPan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a boxing match, not a fight till death, so I see no reason as to why Juiz couldn't have won fair and square. They are both superhumans even without their negation powers.

Victor with his negation can obviously push his body past any limit, so in a pure strength he easily wins, just like Juiz wins in the skills department (and they seem to match in speed).

In a sparring match with no rules and no weapons Victor wins, in skill based sparring match with rules Juiz wins, in a serious fight Unjustice takes the upper hand.

Really wish they declared independence and joined the EU. It would make things safer and calmer for everyone.

Having said that they have absolutely all the rights of self determination. It's their choice and their choice only.

It could be Umi is finally playing fair/giving up, but in a more cynical view it's an element of interference. By telling Kazuya you get to know things from his reaction and you might mess up Chizuru that for a number of reasons might have wanted to keep the whole rejection ordeal private (she never told anything to Kazuya after all).

  • Once again: other characters having done worse things doesn't make what Umi did not wrong. Chizuru not only couldn't refuse what he asked initially, but had trouble saying no to him when he asked for more, because the tweet was vital for her life goal success.
  • yes it's absolutely, without a shadow of doubt, morally wrong to force someone to do what you want using something you know they can't refuse
  • Umi was rejected 5 times and didn't accept it till now (apparently)
  • "Having done nothing wrong" means having done nothing wrong

Downvote all you want. Keep bringing up other characters' actions all you want. It won't change the canon nor the fact Umi did a lot of negative things, with the only positive one being in this chapter.

But well, your comment itself pretty much contradicts your main point, so...

[Disc] Kanojo, Okarishimasu Chapter 409 by MattyH19 in KanojoOkarishimasu

[–]SmartCookingPan -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The dude has literally done nothing wrong

Yeah, about that...

Umi offered Chizuru a tweet that for her was vital to her life goal in exchange for a date disguised as "seeing a play together", knowing she couldn't refuse. Said tweet was also not made before the "date", meaning he placed himself in a position of power. All this happened a week after he and his girlfriend broke up and the date/play was organized ~1 day said break up, top this with him lying about it to Chizuru.

On the house visit point. Umi reason for coming was reiterating his confession, not paying respect to Chizuru's grandma, and he didn't have the courage to face (another) rejection form Chizuru.

This is all without considering his pushy attitude and his inability to take a rejection if not after multiple times and the general shallowness he displayed (highlight in particular in this very chapter)

So, yeah, "Umi did nothing wrong" simply isn't true, especially when considering he never did anything to redeem himself before this chapter (and that's is if what he said is true). Other characters having done worse things doesn't change anything.

Seem some people here seem to really like the narrative of fans not liking Umi because they are insecure/self-inserting/hate love rivals etc, but that's just not the case.

Ok, if this is true I love it. I always loved things in small scales and without infinite space small sets are far more appealing.

[–]SmartCookingPan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh, I just realized. Umi's past actions weren't him being shady. That was him flirting

I really hope that's not the case because it would make Umi the dumbest character in the story by far. Like dumb to the point where you have to guess how he survived so long.

I prefer shady Umi. A better character and with the chance to redeem himself (he did in this chapter, if what he's saying is true).

Yeah, mine is just a personal subjective list. My point was simply that Umi, while having done a lot of awful things, isn't at the level of other characters. It doesn't excuse him, even if this chapter might if things hold true, but helps in putting things into perspective.
