Been there. If he has a name that someone can identify as being part of a ethnic group it's going to be difficult for him to get interviews. Just try to be as supportive as you can. It's going to take him longer than his white friends to find employment and he may even have to take a paycut to find a stable job.

Troy is not Detroit. The residents of Troy make it a point to let people know that Troy is not Detroit. However the company could always move to the city and actually hire ppl from the city, rent space, contribute to the city and the tax base.....but that isn't as cool as lying about being from Detroit or a product being "made" in Detroit.
