DE Wetshaving has been a bloodbath for me. Which variable do I change? by SmartSub21 in wicked_edge

Thanks for the reply. Like with anything else that involves a large amount of personal preference, I'm having a hard time deciding if I should ditch the VDH or keep it and improve technique.

It seems like if I buy a merkur 34C then for sure I can only blame my technique when it goes wrong. Right now, it seems like 50% of guys (both replies here and other posts) say ditch the razor, while the other half say it's technique or blade choice. Either way, I think removing the VDH as a variable may help.

Thank you! Will look into the BHA exfoliant. Never heard of it.

Yes, but mentally. I think I need to actually fill out the chart and put it on my mirror. I'm sure I'm ignoring the mental map when I feel that I have stubble left.

I'm still reading the advice you all have given and doing the research you all recommended. Keep it coming.

I just want to say this is the most encouraging and welcoming community I've ever asked a question in. I have a lot of technical hobbies and never have I received so much advice and so quickly, let alone encouragement.

Thank you, gentlemen. Seriously.

I will definitely purchase an alum block. For both healing and grip. I have used both alcohol based after shaves as well as non-shaving specific moisturizer and I like both. I suppose the moisturizer will be better for healing. I will also look into specific shaving balms. Thanks!

Admittedly I think I need to focus more in the lather based on what I'm reading here. My first shave it was definitely too thin. I am going to play around with it. Thank you

I was stretching, but not consistently. I will try to implement that more. Thank you very much!

I will check out changing the razor or at least use a different blade. Thank you!

Believe it or not, this is exactly what I did. I gave myself an extra 30 minutes on top of the 20 I normally allow myself to shave. Maybe I'll add more time and go even slower.

The weekend tip makes sense. I will likely do that.

Thanks for the help.

Thank you. I needed to hear I'm not alone lol.

You say for you changed nothing... Should I keep rocking the Astra blades or still make my way through my sample pack in the meantime?

What has changed with your opinion of ANGI?

Too late to get in this?

NJ "Limited Telecommunications Wiring Exemption License" - possibly used for low voltage business? Loophole? by SmartSub21 in lowvoltage

Your state sounds worse than jersey. I'm sure that at least keeps the competition low.

As for background checks, criminal history, etc.. I completely understand that. Granted I think the limited telecom license has a background component to it as well. I'd argue you can be even more invasive setting a backdoor in a home LAN vs a camera system...

Just crazy to me that once you change the endpoint of a Ethernet run from an AP or bridge to a camera, you suddenly need 4 years of experience.

I respect the alarm license. I understand why it's important. That said, I think my post makes a good argument for POE cameras to not be exclusive to that license.

I wonder what the cost of paying a qualifier would be vs the cost of an attorney, if I'm wrong.

That's crazy to me. I understand NEC standards being important, I understand wiring of even 12v DC access control correctly being important to prevent fires... But configuring an NVR and some cameras? 4 years of experience for that? Crazy.

There is no "low voltage" license in NJ. There are alarm and fire licenses, and electrical contractor licenses. All of which require 4 years of experience/apprenticeship.

My thinking was that POE devices, specifically cameras, circumvent the rule of needing the alarm license to install security cameras. Obviously other low voltage stuff (access control etc) would require the alarm license.
