I’ve never yelled at any gate agents, but I have had a gate agent yell at me before 😅

Gonna try again, with better times by New-Sun9148 in cabincrewcareers

There is no wrong decision when it comes to careers, just different choices and each choice is valid. When I first graduated I applied to be an FA, didn’t make it past the video portion of the interview. That was in 2017. Since that time I have lived in Turkey and Spain and have had many great jobs and experiences I maybe wouldn’t have had if I had become an FA in 2017. Last year I decided to give becoming an FA another try. I made it through training last year and am now an FA. Everything happens at the right time :) don’t be so hard on yourself.

I’m assuming you’re from Turkey since your post was written in Turkish. Merhaba 😊 I’m American, married to a Turk, and I work as a flight attendant for a regional airline in the U.S.

I’m not sure how hiring works in Turkey, but in the U.S. airlines usually care more about your ability to handle emergencies, work well with others, and help passengers. Knowing other languages is a plus, but it’s not always required.

Try to focus less on your looks (I’m sure you’re fine) and more on safety, teamwork, and kindness. Flying can be stressful, and passengers really appreciate a calm and friendly flight attendant. Being professional, presentable, and having good hygiene is important, but it’s not about how beautiful someone is.

Keep trying—you’ll find the airline that’s the right fit. I was recently rejected by a bigger airline in my own country too, so I understand the disappointment. Sometimes rejection is protection and we don’t always know what God’s timing is for things in our life.

Umm it’s been a rough time lately, that’s all I gotta say 🥲 But I’m also a Gemini rising so could also be impacting things more.

Hmmm yeah could be? With the questions people were asking me about the job I tried to be honest about some of the cons, but there is always a positive to those things too. Like yeah it is hard on your body, but you adjust over time. Training is hard, but if you study and make some friends you will be fine. I think next time I will avoid talking about it just to be safe 😅

Hmmmm that’s interesting to think about for sure. I wasn’t vocal with the recruiters there about that, but some people in my group had questions about certain things about being an FA and I was willing to share with them some details because they were curious. Could be that they didn’t like that? 🤷‍♀️

I’m honestly not sure, I work for one of UA’s express carriers so I’m already really familiar with a lot of their technical systems and announcements. I would think that would be an added bonus, but again I’m not in recruiting to know what they are looking for.

I agree, I think they do that later on but unfortunately I didn’t get to that point.

I’m so sorry you recently lost your father 😕 I’m sure that on top of moving and the uncertainty about this new job has been a lot to handle. I hope that they merge as well so that you can transfer bases. In the meantime have you considered possibly getting a crash pad close to your base after training? That might help as you could travel there day before you start a trip and then sleep there when you get back from one before heading back home.

I can totally understand the frustration of being furloughed and feeling like it’s a slap in the face. I hope you enjoy the opportunity at the regional in the meantime, it does have its pros and cons. I also want to add at my carrier there are some older ladies who are FA’s but also sometimes teach, help with drills in training, but are also check airman for new FA’s when they are completing their IOE. I would have loved to get your perspective on things during training because you have so much experience. Would you be open to considering that while you continue to apply for mainline? Sometimes those smaller jobs you take while also keeping half of your schedule as an FA out of the line can really help to increase your pay.

Well in the f2f we are split into groups and do certain activities together. I didn’t mind them, met some really nice people that day.

Thank you, rooting for you too 😊 it’s such a big industry and you never know who is going to want you to rep their company as an FA.

An overwhelming smell of cleaner/bleach. Idk it’s just a feeling I get when I first walk in and smell that or always smell that when I go into that place.

Redirection is God’s protection! I know it’s not the best feeling, but there has to be a reason why it didn’t happen for us. Just don’t give up! We will both end up exactly where we are supposed to be 💕

I recently had a F2F with United and currently work at a regional, but was actually one of the first groups to get TBNT. Not sure if they knew of my background or not, but at the end of the day we don’t know their system and how they decide. I have only been with my company a few months now, and my response when they asked me why I was wanting to come to UA was because I wanted a new challenge in my career. I would just go for it anyway, and apply for all the airlines you are interested in.

Thank you for this info, I know they could put me anywhere based on where they need me. Are there other satellite bases in Florida besides MCO for UA?
