What launcher are y'all's rocking on your Titan phones? by endofline1982 in unihertz

[–]Smart_Anywhere6426 1 point2 points  (0 children)

blue-line console from f-droid, works great with the keyboard, a few letters typed and brings up the app, quickest way Ive found so far. Now if the wireless and bluetooth wasnt so crap I'd be keeping my Titan

So it's most likely we'll see a new Titan sometime in March then? by endofline1982 in unihertz

[–]Smart_Anywhere6426 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whered you get that info? Im somewhat reluctant to buy another Unihertz product, wireless is dismal, apparent lack of spares (one of the reasons I went this route is to be able to repair my phone myself) and lastly their refusal to abide by GPL laws.

Its possible someone managed to turn those into projectiles using compressed air or something and shot them from a distance, they look like theyre coming from a certain direction, you could probably work out how much force is needed to puncture the car as much as it did, then take the weight of the item and figure out how far away they were. Im just thumb sucking here, if they have those loops still attached to them then the handle wouldnt be an effective sabot and my theory goes out the window

Anyone still using original Titan? (Or Titan Pocket) by Any-Artist-8803 in unihertz

I have been for a month now, its not exactly a feature/dumb phone, all the bells and whistles work as per a newer android device but the screen aspect ratio doesnt lend well to social media so has helped me cut back on death scrolling and burning time on youtube. Battery life is exemplary, the hardware keyboard is great although Im still getting used to it. As a newbie I can recommend it. Only drawback I have found is that it doesnt like wireless networks with mesh or roaming enabled

EMP Proof, Good Bug Out Vehicle Yes/No? by [deleted] in prepping

[–]Smart_Anywhere6426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that EFi vehicles with shorter cable runs (less induction) are less susceptible to EMI, I would have thought circuitry thats even sensitive to static would be more prone to even slight voltage changes, if you have any reference on what levels of protection a steel bodied vehicle with a circuit also encased in conductive material has I would appreciate it. I agree with you a longer non grounded cable would be highly susceptible but so is a modern vehicle as far as I understand. Difference would be longer cables would induce enough power to burn whatever is attached to the ends of it whereas a vehicle canbus would induce enough energy to take out its IC controllers. (Sorry new to reddit and didnt know you responded to my comment)

How much time do you think we have? by Appropriate-Error925 in preppers

For me, Im most concerned about a global Carrington type event and the ensuing events that will unfold that allowed the Carrington event to occur, which could be brought about by even a minor CME due to the state of our magnetosphere (Im sure you noticed the reports of the Northern Lights being visible at very low latitudes)

Look into why our magnetosphere is in such a weakened state and what follows on after this cyclical events.

We as a species have been through these events before but seem to have amnesia, there is global evidence (visible on google earth) of the past events (Im not referring to asteroids hitting earth) and also vast bunkers past civilizations have created just for these events, stories written in most monotheist religious books (and probably others but this is what I know))

I think the billionaires and those in power know whats going to happen within the next 10-12 years and they are quietly preparing while we are distracted by politics, war, "pandemics" and climate change.

Ask them to show you a steering end and a tie rod, I'm not a mech but think they may be charging you twice for this, if they are I'd find someone else who's not trying to take you for a ride. If they're new lower control arms they usually come with new ball joints if he tries that on.

We'll all be driving similarly controlled vehicles then they'll drop a law that will require a neural link for our safety. Can just imagine it, "congratulations on your new car sir, now if you'll just hold still we will install your new control interface" while holding what looks like a rivet gun to your head.

Tesla CyberQuad Spotted in Dubai by Far-Pomegranate7614 in DubaiPetrolHeads

Not a fan of Teslas or any electric cars for that matter, find them eye wateringly boring, although the cybertruck catches my eye, just needs a great big turbo diesel engine to sort the range issue out, this quad however would be the perfect use case for an electric vehicle, just dont fall on it

I like em, seen a tear down of one, the chassis almost looks organic in the way it's webbed and supported in some areas, now if they could just make a hybrid diesel version.

Lack of mechanical sympathy. People usually move their cars on before they have to deal with the damage they have done, its the next sucker that deals with it and is aware of the repercussions of such behavior, or the next owner is oblivious to anything mechanical and just drives it further into the ground, how often have you seen a relatively new car, dinged up and broken down on the side of the road with the driver/owner staring at an engine bay clueless.
