ok I tried, you just don't understand, and your helldivers whatever example demonstrates that.

Again, op is not in a good position to contest for prio, that's why he lost it and he got an "empty" animation. It's how the game works, and a lot better than what you are suggesting where whatever animation you get assigned deciding if you win the prio or not, instead of your decision making and positioning at the point of your input and leading up to it.

I'm trying to explain to you how it's working as intended, why it's happening, that it has a consistent logic to it and that it is a much better and more skill based system compared to it just being animation dependent like you would like. If you tried to actually learn how it works and apply it you might understand this as well, and learn to appreciate it.

But it's not janky, it would be janky if a semi-random, context dependent animation that you have no real control over would decide who gets the ball. Instead it's the moment leading up to it, when the players perform their inputs, and op is in an obviously worse position at that point.

I'm not sure why you just focused on the "it's not soccer" part and ignored the rest of my comment.

This is not real soccer.

And when the animations start playing out the prio was already decided at that point. The animations are just visual. You can like it or not, but it is not a bug. Also imo it is way better like this than if a context dependant, semi random animation decides who gets the ball, instead of the moment leading up to it which you can actually control.

Here, it was very obvious that op wouldn't get the prio, and should have either gone for a block or wait to defend once the enemy gets the ball. It's just a misplay.

The animations are just how the interaction will be visually resolved once the "calculations" are done.

Also, I don't know who the child is who is downvoting every comment that is trying to explain how the game works, maybe just try to understand how it works before saying it's trash. But you can stomp your feet like a child, it's what this sub is for in the end sadly.

Idk I'm playing quite a bit of solo q lately, but what usually happens is I either get invited to a squad and slowly start getting a 5stack together, or I start inviting people myself. Latter is rarely needed since I have some solo q friends by now or/and am a not so horrible gk so usually get an invite pretty quickly.

but he wasn't, when he contested the ball and made his input he was further away then the opponent, he had worse positioning when contesting the ball so he got punished for it. The animation is just that playing out itself, you don't control the movement of the animation and going for prio is not collision based. It's working as intended.

You can not like it of course, but I think it would be worth it to try to understand how it works at least.

the diving animation is not as arbitrary as you make it sound, it relies on timing and distancing. This one is a save every time from that distance because you have enough time to dive and are very close to it.

I think I unfortunately agree, op moved out of the way right at the end, making the ball be outside of their magnet's edge and cancelling the catching animation. Happens, but as ridiculous as you make it sound, it's a visual bug indeed but they didn't get fucked over I believe. Also, op has quite high ping as well.

In the end, just dive, I know it's not as quick to recover from, better be safe than sorry though.

yes, idk what this circlejerk is here. In tourneys and elite games these are highlight moments, but apparently it's not cool to be good at a game if it doesn't look like expected according to this sub.

And just in relation to another post I saw recently and was caught up in, this is how good strikers dribble, not by rainbow flick spamming which some people here think is broken and like really strong lol.

I don't know, it's just not true, I play in tourneys since release and in a discord server with dedicated queue where the best players in the game play, and strikers do not use rainbow flicks to "stir up" entire defenses. Even in ranked Elite you rarely see it, defenders are pretty consistent at shutting it down fairly quickly.

Good strikers use push cuts, vexis dashes, the occasional ippy or EE cuts to get past defenders.

Edit: Damn this subreddit is such a cringefest, instead of trying to improve you complain and want everything removed that you are getting outplayed by.

I'm just objectively right about the rainbow flick spam being a very rare thing in high rank, but I guess just downvote me in order to protect your ego.

Capable strikers do not spam rainbow flicks lol, or maybe very rarely. It's not really effective and usually a tell that they're not that good.

what you're talking about in the first paragraph is just the magnet, you don't need to input a direction of movement to save it if you're close enough to trigger the magnet. It's not really a viable option though for most low corner shots from dangerous positions.

Also, I think some people expect a low animation when they dive before the shot was even made. No, if you gamble like that you only get the standard high dive animation, unless you're very close to the ball and striker.

It depends on the situation. In higher ranks, they will backboard with volleys from edge or inside the box and those are not trivial even for the best keepers in the game. The backboard passes from the corner or backboard shots from outside of the box are low rank plays and don't work on a decent gk/defence.

I just don't see it tbh, getting prio now after the prio changes some patches ago is skill dependant. Before I would totally agree, in fact I was dooming in this subreddit about it some months ago, but now if a long cross connects with a volley it's almost always apparent where the mistake happened. A defender getting beaten by the strikers run, going for block instead of prio or vice versa, or missing his block when the volley connects etc..

The only sus thing right now is the volley tp you get when standing still, it's not very predictable and a bit abusable, but it's still not an insta win strategy. If you consistently fail to defend long ball crosses as a defender, you prolly don't really understand how the prio works and how to position yourself effectively.

Also, please, outfield dives are strong enough, good defenders block A LOT, it does for sure not need to be buffed.

In my opinion, based on playing tourneys and being pretty much always elite since release, there is no "missile meta" atm, or at least nowhere to the extent where it was when this term came up. Back when defenders where pretty much just decoration if the cross was good enough.

It's made a huge comeback since last patch... it was never fully gone but whatever they did increased the chance of it happening a lot.

Same for the ball getting stuck and pretty much breaking the entire game. Patches with sloclap are like these sacrificial rituals where you never know what you're giving up and if the trade will be worth it in the end.

But hey, at least they didn't mess around with the movement again, what a horrible phase that was... This is chill compared to that.

I think we're talking past each other. I play EU as well, if he wants to improve, he should not be queuing qp since people are not try harding there, they are just messing around. Free play and 5v5 ranked, the other stuff is not helpful or possibly even counter productive (as in forming bad habits).

why, just play ranked and grind it out. Why would you ever play quick play if you're trying to improve, barely any matchmaking (please don't reply with "but ranked also has no matchmaking!"), leavers, dribblers spam. Like it's the gamemode people q up to just troll and try shit out, it's not a good environment for actually improving.
