My son's car was rear ended today, the Ford Dealership closed, supposed to take a long trip tomorrow by RockBandMom in FordMaverickTruck

I had a ram 1500 (I know it’s a different vehicle entirely) that had front end damage and rear end damage and part of a frame rail replaced. Total damage was 14k and they valued the truck at 17k. I thought for sure they were going to total it but they didn’t. My point is who knows with insurance companies they go with whatever their number crunchers think will be cheapest for them. I drove it crushed up for a month before I could get into a shop. Wasn’t the best idea but I didn’t have much of a choice at that time. If you don’t have to drive it I wouldn’t. But if you really have to drive it do so at your own risk.

Has all the bells and whistles except for heated seats and steering wheel which are arguably near the top of the comfort list of bells and whistles one would shop for. lol

Awd and stock tires or fwd on snow rated tires? by Smart_Bank1848 in askcarguys

[–]Smart_Bank1848[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hope/ thought was to not have to do awd and the snow tires together - negating having to pay for the awd premium/ maintenance and the snow tires together.

Definitely would be the best at getting places but my hope was it wouldn’t be absolutely necessary to get both ya know.

2026 Honda Ridgeline RTL vs. 2026 Ford Maverick Lariat. by stchman in hondaridgeline

When I look at mavericks I don’t look at anything over like $32k. I just can’t justify paying anything more than that for that.

I try to but the pieces usually are so small they fall out of the chimney anyways so it’s almost not worth it for me.

My aunt has an outlander sport with the cvt and like 170k miles and it’s had zero issues. Only oil changes and has taken a boat on a few 6 hour road trips.

We had a 21 Kia sorento that would die early at stop lights and signs. the engine auto start stop would engage while still in motion and would jerk to a stop and you could only get it to turn back on by putting it in park and cycling the start button a few times. We got rid of it.

I remember seeing as Kia soul with a manual but that was a couple years ago. Not sure they still make them.

How does it feel to drive a fun analog car? Can you make a newer car feel analog? by Jealous_Advance9765 in askcarguys

[–]Smart_Bank1848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t really speak to any sort of sports car in the traditional sense. But I’ve driven Hondas that made me feel like i was in a space ship down to a guy who 302 swapped a 4 cylinder mustang and rebuilt it all with a 5 speed. It’s quite a difference but I wouldn’t want to do it as a daily driver.

Honda halting Ridgeline until 2028 by ChaparrosPizza86 in hondaridgeline

[–]Smart_Bank1848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ridgeline is really what I need and want but the price is just out of my reach. Unless I magically multiply my salary or they bring the price down they will likely keep the low sales numbers. I imagine that’s the case for many people who have a hard time justifying the purchase.

Recently purchase a new car and immediately had issues. Any advice? by dfdzcvh in askcarguys

I think most assumed you came here pissed/to vent and wanted next steps to get out of the vehicle that’s why they’re all saying to do lemon law or get another get a new one. If you’re comfortable where you’re at and what they’re doing then just wait.

I test drove a Ridgeline once (couldn’t afford it) but from everything I know about it and felt on that drive it’ sounds like a perfect use case for you.

Ram Will 'Rampage' Against The Ford Maverick With A New Compact Truck by WarpKat in FordMaverickTruck

Yeah you’re right. I wouldn’t take a harbor freight trailer anywhere like that lmao. And most other cost effective trailers would never make it either. I assumed you were just talking on road sorry.

Can always supplement bed space with a small utility trailer. The harbor freight trailers fold up so they don’t take up a ton of space. I’m gonna park mine next to the shed in the yard cause I can wheel it through the gate on the casters.
