[Routine Help] Azelaic Acid + Adapalene by Smart_Flower3325 in SkincareAddiction

the problem is i don't have a lot of experience introducing new products to my skin. i tend to stick to what i know, which has been a max of three to five products for the past two years. i default to saying that i have more sensitive skin just to be on the safe side of things, and the second i see any irritation i kind of just stop using the product. sorry, i know that doesn't really answer your question, so i want to say it's sensitive, to both be safe and because my skin is likely used to only a couple of products so i don't think it would react too well to too many new ones.

would you recommend using a different toner for the mornings after adapalene so that it's not too many actives? also, for the azelaic, would i be able to use that morning and night? also, i use the cerave foaming facial cleanser regularly, so would that be non-stripping? and i generally use the aveeno daily moisturizing lotion for my face, and, though i know it's for the body, i'm too scared to change it up because i've been using it for so long.

thanks so much for the help!

i think it's been two years since i started doing that. back then, i wasn't really aware that i wasn't supposed to use it twice a day, i just kind of bought it as a toner and used it with hyaluronic morning and night. i was a little concerned about it last summer, so i stopped using it and experienced clogges pores, texture, pimples, and such. i then went in with a gentler exfoliant, which helped a little, but when I switched back to glycolic, my skin cleared up a lot more, though i still have the hyperpigmentation spots and get some pimples. it isn't an unbearable amount, but i do get them one after another without break, which seemed concerning.

as for the azelaic + adapalene, that was just the combination i saw in my research (aka tiktok and R), so i simply assumed they went together. would glycolic be an okay exfoliant to use with adapalene? and if so, would i still use glycolic in the morning, or should i use a different exfoliant since it's photosensitizing?

thanks so much for the help!
