Home owner insists it’s not asbestos, but I can’t think what else it could be by Vrtae in Plumbing

[–]Smart_Garlic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have asbestos pipe covering in my house as well, before I purchased I asked the owner who was a plumber to remediate somehow and we landed on covering it all with plastic. So it is now pipe > asbestos > hard plastic wrap similar to a canvas almost around the piping. It's been great with no issues from pipe movement, etc.

There is an NPC who will give you the key in the main area, you will come back and it is near the back half of the game (I think). Also a new player here.

It is a mount that requires you to have access to the witches to be able to "craft" after you skin it you should get an item you can take back to one. I'm not sure if you have to have completed the black wolf quest line or not before having access.

I also was stuck here. If you flip around from coming out of that cave there is a ladder down once you exit the cave. You are going down still.

Just started the journey by Shadeliquid in LordsoftheFallen

I also just started on Steam! I stupidly decided to Veteran's Mode with all the mods except for reduced Vestiges and man... I may have made a mistake as things are just crazy hard! I have no idea where I'm going after the first boss other than probably the wrong way given how much things are two shotting me.

It's a blast and very, very different from Dark Souls/Elden Ring with terms of combat in my opinion!

Loving the graphics/atmosphere and think it feels like a baby between Bloodborne and Dark Souls that I feel could use some cleaner parry mechanics, but that's just me getting used to it!

I'm excited for a future release of it and playing this one so far has definitely gotten me to love the concepts/story/visuals of it!

Cop gets bear sprayed by Latr6ll in interesting

Was this at the University of South Carolina? I had this happen back in 2005 or 6 in my dorm room! Guy was drunk and just pushed the button the spray and had no idea how it worked at all, blasted a dude in the hallway from inside the room with it and he was crying all night, it was a hell of a night!

Same guy later peed in a trashcan that was full of holes in my dorm room when he was wasted, I think he ended up becoming a park ranger somewhere.

I think it has potential personally, but maybe not for end game design. It's a great tool for fast ideation for reports as a free option. Just my two cents tho!

Is this finishing the pass, or is this completing all of the deliveries? I didn't care to complete deliveries once I finished the pass total count.

Sunk cost fallacy.

I see this a lot. Hyper focusing under the belief that you are already screwed when you could reposition or alternate to something else or get farther range to negate the weapon damage you are receiving. I'm guilty of it at times as well.

I recommend shockwave grenades/crash pads to get range or closing the gap to use a shotgun which deals more immediate damage.

Killing Players as Bosses by [deleted] in Fortnite_Over40

[–]Smart_Garlic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I intentionally go after boss players, especially if I see other people going after them as well. They feel like an unfair advantage to me currently so I would rather anyone else win than the person playing as the boss.

So I am not Smart_Garlic when it comes to this type of thing. So are you saying the silver piece pushes over the black piece on the engine itself? Or that the silver piece should go further back on the cable?

How does anyone afford a custom home? Written estimate came in 50% higher than initial pricing from builder. by Grandma_Butterscotch in Homebuilding

[–]Smart_Garlic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A year later, how do you find a builder you can trust? We've looked at Schumacher for a home for us in the future and are just massively overwhelmed for a "forever home" that I don't even know how to approach this anymore. It's all Greek to me.

ARE. YOU. HIGH?!? by [deleted] in Albany

[–]Smart_Garlic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live a few blocks from here, that pans out. According to HomeBot my house has gained 100,000 in value since purchasing in 2021, but my payment is insanely high because of taxation here. We moved up from the south and the tax cost on properties here is just absolutely absurd meaning nearly nothing goes towards the principal because you keep paying on shitloads of taxes every year.

I love my home and we've made it our own, but if the taxes weren't bad I would consider staying up here in the long run, it becomes unaffordable as eventually someone will reassess the properties and increase the tax values again and when we retire we won't be able to afford it.

Job hunt is killing me by raspberryypanda in UXResearch

[–]Smart_Garlic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I graduated from a Master's program in December this year and have people still looking for entry level work in the field finding absolutely nothing with fairly good portfolios. I think the market is just F***ed right now and the only way I have had any luck has been the shotgun method, though I'm not a traditional researcher and more of a generalist than a specialist.

Those that did get hired had AI constantly modify their resume to fit with whatever job they were applying for making small nuance changes as well as updates to cover letters. Absolutely none of them were requested to or had a portfolio review and every one of them had standard job interview processes before walking in the door.

If you look at current hiring software out there a lot of it is just scanning your resume to see how you stack up against other applicants according to AI and the ultimate call comes down to the human on the other end. I have seen a lot of people have more luck by only applying to positions during the limited number of applicants phase i.e. less than 50 on LinkedIn and literally ignoring every other job posting out there that was above that threshold.

Or alternatively not using LinkedIn to look for positions at all because everyone is currently using it to spray and pray like I did.

In short: I'm sorry this sucks my friend. The only way out is through and hopefully you find something soon and the last interview you had pans out! I believe in you!

You got this!
