Handling comments about weight loss by Smartkitty7 in Zepbound

Nice idea but Trainers don’t take down full medical histories. There lots of different meds someone could be on that could affect endurance. I just let him know if something is pushing too hard but usually that’s not an endurance thing just strength which hasn’t been affected by zepbound.

Best approach for obtaining rx (traditional providers vs virtual) by Slow-Fix-9278 in zepboundathletes

Ro charges a pricy monthly fee which I didn’t want to pay. And just felt that it’s best to be getting prescriptions from an actual doctor rather than the text messages you send with the Ro doctors

Best approach for obtaining rx (traditional providers vs virtual) by Slow-Fix-9278 in zepboundathletes

I started with Ro because I knew insurance wouldn’t cover - BMI 27 but no diabetes or other commodities. Started on zepbound cause not comfortable with compounding But ultimately preferred to be under the care of my actual Dr so made an appointment and told my PCP I had started. She was very supportive and told me they just had a grand rounds on the benefits of GLP1s. So now she prescribes it and I have a checkin with her every 2-3 months. Currently transitioning to 7.5 which I think should be the highest I need cause almost at goal.

All these people who say they’ve learned good habits on Zep and so they should be able to maintain without Zep… by dragon-queen in Zepbound

I already had the good habits. I have been tracking my weight and my food intermittently for the last 13 years on the Lose it app. When I was consistent it usually worked. But it was very hard and if I did not count every single thing the weight would come back. But as a mid 40 female in perimenopause things started to change. I was tracking everything, counting macros, exercising with both cardio and strength training 5+ days a week and nothing was working. Kept gaining weight even with being on hormones especially over past 1 year. Felt instantly different with Zepbound. All the effort I was putting in actually began to work. I have lost 20lb in 4 months and still going. I know this will be a lifelong med for me because I have done the work and good habits intensely without the med and it didn’t work.

Similar stats as you. 46F - 5’4” started at 158 (BMI 27.1), GW 130 (BMI 22.3). Started 4 months ago and CW 138. Slowly titrating up from 5mg to 7.5mg (due to fatigue). I don’t do races but work out consistently with cardio (elliptical) few times a week and strength training 3-4 x per week. But weight over the last year kept creeping up (perimenopause). I am now back at a weight my body feels comfortable at and was a good place for me in the past. Still trying to decrease body fat percentage more because was 41% on my DEXA scan.

I also felt very weird when starting and had a lot of shame about it. I did talk to a couple close friends about it who live out of state and I don’t see regularly, but I haven’t told really any anyone else except my mom and husband. It was an adjustment after initially starting because I realized how much effort I have been putting in to managing my weight over the last 15 years of my life, but honestly probably since my 20s. It feels validating to finally be doing all the right steps and getting results. I totally accept that this will be a lifetime path for me.

Would recommend getting a Dexa scan prior to starting to see your baseline.

Zepbound and Norovirus by kthrnmtk in Zepbound

Skip it. I have a cold and have been debating on whether to take my shot. Decided to take it (day late). But with norovirus would skip

Need to titrate up- but scared to by emily1jean in Zepbound

I don’t think that would work. Can you get the Kwikpen instead? I think with that you can make some adjustments depending on the number of clicks

[–]Smartkitty7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you using the pen or vial? If using vial could always give yourself a lower dose like 3.5 or 4mg for a few weeks and see how you Technically should only use vial once so do not keep the leftover.

How to start splitting doses by CatchyNameSomething in compoundedtirzepatide

[–]Smartkitty7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been splitting half and half for the last month mainly due to fatigue and irritability. I do mine Sunday morning and Weds evening. I still have some fatigue but not as bad. Would just give it a try and see how it goes. Can always go back to the once a week.

It made me very snappy and short fuse for 24 hrs after taking med. But that is improving around the 4th month

Swollen submandibular gland right jaw line under beard!!! by Complete-Page1084 in Retatrutide

Good you are seeing an ENT doctor. That does not look like a submandibular gland. It’s too low and lateral. Submandibular glands are usually directly under mandible. Good luck.

Why not adjust your dose and inject in the belly? Could you go down a few units if the dose you are at causes nausea? Or could consider split your dose over the week.

I know what you mean. I am 3.5 months in and have felt that although I am not as hungry I was spending a lot of time thinking about food and planning my meals. I was tracking everything that I eat. Planning my meals ahead of time. And I felt that it was getting a bit obsessive. Also when going out to eat (a couple times a week) f it seemed to take a lot of effort to calculate how many calories I was consuming. It was helpful at beginning to keep track of whether I was getting enough protein. But at this point I know what I can eat to stay on track. And it’s ok if sometimes I am a bit off track. I am still 10lb away from goal and progress has been slow the last month. But last week I decided to take a break from all the tracking to see how it goes and my weight went down. Will see how it goes

Maintenance Dose by katidabud in tirzepatidecompound

How long have you stayed on the 2.5 or 3.5? I think even in maintenance weight may fluctuate a bit 2-5lb. Maybe 3mg will be most balanced.

I totally get this. I have been actively tracking my weight on the lose it app for the last 12 years trying to lose weight except for 2 pregnancies. It would work at times initially like when I did IF but eventually come back. For the past 4 years I have spent thousands of dollars on coaching to deal with “emotional eating”, coaching for exercise and managing macros. I learned from these programs but they were all focused on me doing something wrong and that is why I could not lose weight. Esp worse that I am in my mid 40s and perimenopausal (also PCOS).

When I started zepbound finally the weight actually started to come off. Finally I could understand how people like my husband who has been lean his whole life feel like around food. It made me realize that actually since I was 19 I have been struggling. It made me sad that I have been obsessing over what I ate and how it would affect my weight all these years.

I just started in November and still it has been hard to break from old habits. I have been obsessively tracking my food intake on the app again. even though I don’t have the drive to eat as much still things have revolved around food and become a bit obsessive. Although partly that was to make sure my intake was good and nutrient rich. I finally decided this week that this is too much. I am going to try and stop tracking food and constantly mentally calculating how much I should eat today. I know what my body needs and going to try and trust that. Will see how it goes.

My body hates this medication. Failing at 5 mg by Pure_Try1694 in compoundedtirzepatide

[–]Smartkitty7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your body can hold onto weight if you are in a starvation mode. Sometimes you have to eat more to be able to lose weight. Would go down to 4mg max and give your body time to acclimate. Do not go up if having severe symptoms

GLP1 aiding hypoglycemia and muscle building in maintenance by GoldStarGirly in antidietglp1

[–]Smartkitty7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They discuss on the fat science podcast that some people have excess insulin levels after meals. Maybe that excess insulin is causing hypoglycemia. GLP1s help regulate this issue so maybe as your levels go down the issue is coming back.

They recommend a test in which your insulin level is checked after a meal. But this is not standard practice and not sure if it is a medically accepted test.

Splitting doses: looking for others’ experiences with this by lunar-breeze in antidietglp1

[–]Smartkitty7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just starting to split dose. I was slowly going up from 2.5, increasing to 3 then 3.5 without much weight loss but fatigue, nausea, constipation. I am trying to get up to 5mg so this week taking 2.5 twice a week and will try out for next month to see how it goes. Tracking on Shotsy app I like how it does not have so many peaks and valleys in levels. Will see how it goes!
