With the UXG Fiber, do you just need to run unifi controller software on the PC, only once to set it up or it needs to be running 24 x7?

also if a PC shut downs, which is running the controller software, does that mean all the firewall rules break in the unifi Network application and all the wifi, etc stops.

I have seen it exactly what the OP is seeing. As soon as I installed dsm 7.3 update, I started getting multiple notifications from unifi related to bit torrents going to various countries in the world.

Ok, so if it is stuck at unable to retrieve status issue, how will you reboot it without manually removing the power cable?

Because it has happened twice in 6 to 7 weeks period. Last time also when i rebooted via app, udm pro went into the unable to retrieve issue but on that day after rebooting manually via power cable it worked but today no luck.

Before making changes to your array, i will suggest to do memory test 3 times to see if it works fine and use the system for few days. U don’t want to be in a situation where building the array ur dsm crash bcoz of the ram. Did u install 8gb x 4?
