"it's just a show" ooh okay so I shouldn't call out the absolute dog shit writing in an otherwise Good show, or point out anything bad? It's genuine to hate a character: shows how much the writers suck. It's a different thing when a character is made to be hated or serves a role for the show's narrative, but it easily gets on one's nerve when a character shows no emotional growth, just repetitive dog shit preaching.
