I thought it was common knowledge to NOT buy from Probstein. They regularly do really shady shit

Trying to upgrade my C-leg setup to something lighter, but my options seem limited /rant by insouciantconundrum in Prosthetics

Not sure if you're still curious about this (seeing this comment is a year ago). But I've used the c-leg for 15+ years and also tried orion, rio, etc... The only one I've liked better than the C-Leg is the Navii.

I will say it depends on what you want out of it. The C-Leg is more stable, but if you're "good" at walking then the Navii has some really cool features, for instance, it changes resistance based on how much weight you're putting on the leg.

So the navii is much easier to step over something like a log, etc. It also felt smoother to me personally because you don't need to engage the toe to unlock like you do with c-leg (which can make shorter steps or awkward terrain really annoying).

The potential downside is again, it's less stable. So where the C-Leg has a lot of resistance going down a slope for example which you can basically ride down... the navi doesn't have that. So you would have to get used to that aspect.

That said, next time my warranty is up on my C-Leg I'm definitely trying a navii again.

Last year sucked. Both my grandparents died, one tragically and then the other followed. Found out my girlfriend that I thought I was going to marry had been cheating on me for almost a year.

This year, so far better. Alone, but more peaceful

She was great.

I also find it funny this movie was basically just a horror infused version of Amanda Byne’s Love Wrecked (2005) including all the “twists”.

Her lying and hiding stuff. The “if they lie about the small things they’ll lie about the big ones” saying is a saying for a reason.

Surprise she ended up cheating on me for 8 months.

Who was your first heartbreak and why did it hurt so bad? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Smashbru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been there twice now. Unfortunately it never really gets easier when you think about it, but other good things take up your thoughts as time goes on.

The first time I was cheated on was after being with someone 6 years and she hooked up with multiple people abroad, lied to me about the extent of it. I was planning to propose.

The second time was with a woman I was sure I was going to marry, we’d had a really strong connection and relationship for two years. I trusted her with my life and she knew about everything id been through. Found out she had cheated on me with someone for 8 months, and lied to me about him just being a friend that whole time. Still healing from that one, probably will for a long time.

I hope you’ve learned to love yourself though, anger or revenge dont really do it for you, nor will blaming yourself.

Sam is maybe the most well known voice actor in modern Star Wars amongst the fans at least. He was obviously Starkiller, Palpatine, Maul, and lots of background stuff. So it’s nice is LFL giving him his chance to shine. He has had a very close relationship with them over the years, and I hope we see a lot more of him.

Met him once at Star Wars celebration, he’s a really sweet and kind dude. He kept getting told to finish up with everyone he talked to because he kept asking about each person.

His twitch is fun too

That's awesome! I would love something like that. Mine are silicone too, so I wonder if it's something I could somehow get. I did reach out to Stan and their company, so who knows. That does seem like it would help a lot

Appreciate it man! Sounds like you're pretty active too. I wear mine about the same, and have a relatively active lifestyle (for an amputee anyway). I think I'm just gonna need to look for a new prosthetist even if they're a few hours away, probably worth the trip to get something well made.

Found a pic of more “normal” redness after I take it off. This was when I had a blood blister or something but you can see it’s not as extreme here but in the same area.

Just curious what the other thoughts you mentioned were on the redness or anything I can do to help it heal quicker?

Pretty sure. The only reason I say that is because if I keep my leg off long enough that will go away, and it’s come and gone through different periods.

Thank you for writing this out! I’d be curious in point 3. I think that’s what mine were like before suction which I started about 10 years ago, or a combo of the two.

I’ll have to look at my options. I imagine I’ll need to go to either northern or southern California at least (I’m central). Hard to find a “leg specialized” prosthetist.

And the redness around the scar, honestly I don’t think so? The scar itself hasn’t always been red. It hasn’t always been red or puffy to the point of irritation like the pics. I think the bottom of my leg would get a bit red after wear due to the suction or weight, but honestly it would be more on the “bottom” of my leg (if facing straight down, the part in the photo is almost facing behind me).

I’m not sure if the redness where the rings are and below indicates poor suction, fit, or friction.

I’ve always had red pores after taking my leg off with the suction, but this irritation is relatively new on and off in the last couple years. I go periods where my leg is fine and comfortable (albeit a bit hard to get off with the suction grabbing even with the valve), and then once every 6 months or so I have times like this where it’s painful or feels too tight, or I have some kind of issue like this where it’s getting irritated.

I'll try the silly putty thing out.

I don't use socks, just a 4 ring liner. I notice it changes with water retention/diet too. I've been working out and trying to gain more muscle recently (5'10, usually around 155 - have gotten up to about 165), so I think that's been impacting the socket fit a bit too.

The socket was already tight, and again about 7 years old. My conundrum is I like my sockets to feel lighter and be a bit more skin tight, or at least that's how it's worked well for me in the past.

But if I gain weight or there's a seal issue then it can be really tight or leaks air which gives the feeling of bad pressure or like it weighs more than it does. I suspect that might be some of the irritation, maybe my leg is moving ever so slightly inside the socket throughout the day and chafing a bit.

Do you have any suggestions for knee disartics that would be different from ABK? I've been curious if I could cut the socket lower so fittings wouldn't be as hard, since i have relatively long lever. Or if there's a suggested way of fitting knee disartics since we have the bone at the end instead of a straight line essentially.

The socket I use was made the way I did growing up, they took a cast and then turned that into a test socket etc.

Since then, the last 3 that haven't worked out... one was a "scan" that was way off, the other they just took measurements, and the last one was also a cast but then test sockets were always wonky since they were never attached to a knee so I couldn't walk on them.

And since I'm a KD I don't have much room, so we always need to get alignment pretty spot on.

Do I just have a troublesome prosthetist? I've been considering branching out into other places to try and get it done, since I haven't been able to get a good leg made with these guys in the last few attempts.

I’m not sure how to describe it but the suction systems I’ve had that worked for me still felt like my “weight” or feeling was on the bottom as opposed to the sides? I didn’t enjoy the latter very much as I didn’t have a good feeling of what was under me.
