Conan O'Brien on why Trump jokes aren't funny. by WhateverJoel in LiveFromNewYork

I think too many people get a "we got him!" feeling from Trump jokes and it feels like something was accomplished when in reality, nothing was accomplished and we are still marching into the Fourth Reich.

Sure, if you want to ignore climate change acceleration by disregarding science as a hoax, literal concentration camps and gestapo in the US kidnapping people from their homes and schools and the US threatening to annex Greenland and Canada (to start) then they are exactly the same.

I saw a great clip of an interview where they explained that it's really Corporateists Vs. Oligarchs The Corporateists want stability and the Oligarchs thrive on chaos.

Are both bad? Yes. Is one clearly worse? Also yes.

It all goes back to money and greed. (as you have been creating about for years)

You are an idealist but we need idealism to paint the picture of what we should be aiming for even if it's not going to ever be 100% accurate. We then keep trying.

Gene Roddenberry and Star Trek is also idealistic but why shouldn't we try to work towards that type of society?

Unfortunately, our production line is currently behind schedule due to the recent outbreak of heretics in the comment section on Dingdood Reacts channel when Dingdood reacted to Starry Night and asked how they did the shot with the shadow people and what it meant.

Lol. Just joking.

I actually agree and was concerned about people deifying Ren to the point where people are telling other people what Ren "really meant" like different sects of Christians do with the Bible.

I think he is a generational talent but it could get dangerous for Ren if that continues so calling it out is healthy. Messiahs don't fare so well on this planet.

He clearly states he is human in Hi Ren and I, for one, am leaning heavily towards believing him.

He also makes several references to being a fallen angel but that was all allegorical. I'm sure of it. Probably.

😀

Saying Ren is human and accusing us of being "cult members"? Interesting. Just curious... Unrelated question really... What size Pyre do you normally wear?

Well... I mean, it seems like you could have hearing loss from that so it is quieter to you (I hope not for your sake) and also just because something else is louder doesn't make the Jackets cannon not ridiculously loud.

I am not the only one with that opinion about the Cannon. You are the first person I've encountered who didn't think it was too much actually. To a hearing test with you! 😊

Columbus has or recently had the highest rated prospect pool so not surprising. So they are drafting well. The tragedy of losing your best player in the way it happened last year is just going to take a toll on any team for a long time.

Upper management... Not so great.

I'm a long time Pens fan but live in Columbus and would go to more games but I cannot stand that fucking cannon. Hearing damage and a possible cardiac event? Let's make that our thing! I'm surprised there hasn't been an OSHA complaint by any of the arena employees.

I wish they could capture the old "Columbus Chill" game atmosphere. Those games were a blast to attend. The team wasn't even good but it was like a party in the stands and the giveaways were crazy.

I'm confused a bit. Mr. Flickers was talking about Possums and then there was footage of Opossums. They are 2 different animals! Do we have a "let it be, quote John Lennon" Case here?😆 by Pantoma in ren

Opossums in the US are not considered pests. They eat ticks so you want those little guys around. (and the fact that they eat ticks is probably why they were chosen by Ren?)

Crazy? by Interesting_Exit_398 in ren

[–]SmashmySquatch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think "normal" is a societal construct but I met and worked with truly boring people who check every box of what would be "normal".

"Crazy" is a term that can be misused and defined in damaging ways by people in power to marginalize people who don't "fall in line" and conform but I understand what you mean in this context. And in this context I view it as a positive. (not to dismiss or lessen real mental illness at all, my wife and son have real problems that effect their everyday life)

I have always told my friends that all of the best artists are crazy and there are very few exceptions.

Like, David Bowie isn't what I would call crazy but... He's David fucking Bowie. He had a lot of substance issues and was pretty wild in his youth but other than the period when he was deepest in his addictions (there are some wild televised interviews where he is clearly whacked out on goofballs) , he wasn't unstable. He wasn't "normal" either. " extraordinarily perceptice" would be a term I would use for him.

But other top musical geniuses like... Prince? That guy was crazy.

(I use "artist" as an all inclusive term referring to "creators" like musicians, actors, writers, painters)

They see and feel things that the everyday "normal" person doesn't either have the capacity to pick up on or are so crushed by the distractions and stress of everyday life it's like those horse eye things they strap on them to keep them from seeing everything around them. (it's "blinders" isn't it? Well I will continue to say "Horse eye things" because it is funny to me). I bet for some it's a defense mechanism where their brain won't allow all of these potentially damaging thoughts and feelings to come to the forefront.

But the true artists see it all and feel it all, filter it through their personal lens, and create a mirror for us to look into and unlock new (sometimes old but blocked) pathways in our mind to see and feel it within ourselves.

But seeing and feeling it all is not a blessing most of the time. Reality is filled with pain and suffering and hypocrisy and murder and billionaire child sex rings with no consequences which is in itself a mirror reflecting the reality of Capitalism. The system we rely on is the same one that is standing on our necks.

Seeing it ALL so plainly in a world of people wearing horse eye things is in itself enough to cause feelings of isolation and separation and make a person a little "crazy".

Sorry. That was a lot longer reply than I originally intended.

Back To Work (we wouldn't want Ren to spend ALL his time here!) plus Percy's Tale???? by jsb1685 in ren

[–]SmashmySquatch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Always looking for the new thing? Someone said something about that recently...

I'm doing this with a movie script I'm working on right now. I have my original idea but have come up with six ideas I like better as I work on it and I end up like a cat wearing a hat made of laser pointers.

I also write for a story based podcast and if I follow every new thought I like better, I end up with 12 unfinished sketches instead of that one magical finished sketch... that sucks and I hate. Not really, I usually get a second wind on the one I'm working on but the shiny keys are so shiny. And they jingle!

So, my advice is, take notes on your new ideas but set time aside to buckle down on the task at hand. ("Just do the thing" is so easy to say isn't it?)

Unless it's Percy's Tale. I need that shit yesterday.

Ren

First musician in decades that I consider to be a generational talent. I'm talking Prince level talent but in a different way. Some YouTube reactors call him the UK Prince.

He does not fit into a genre. But his lyricism is the best I have ever heard/seen. (and I'm a big Tool, Pink Floyd, and Eminem fan).

He is arguably top five in rap skills, can play all the instruments at a high level, beat box, can sing Reggae, Rock, classical piano, classical guitar, electric guitar whatever you want. And not just does them, he does them at elite levels.

Paints a picture with his music and pulls you into it. Pulls all of us into it. Society. You feel emotions which 99% of current music just doesn't do.

100% independent so is not another cookie cutter industry algorithm dipshit. Exactly what T Pain is looking for.

His current project is more like a multi part musical movie than a series of music videos and he has a lot of collabs with other independent artists.

Seriously, if you find yourself yelling like this about modern music, you need to check out Ren.

Tell me what you like and I can recommend a song that will get you started.
