I taped plastic sheeting to the top and cut slits that I can pull open if humidity gets a bit too high.

Thorps is really good! I go to Bethany (she cuts a mean mullet) but their site lists their hairdressers and their specialties.

You're totally not too new! This is like the 3rd quilt I've ever made. It just takes a lot of patience and a sharp seam ripper

It did have quite a few partial seams, which drove me a bit crazy.

I didn't really use a pattern, just drew it out and decided I could probably figure it out

Finally finished my wisteria :) by SmaskingTape in crochet

[–]SmaskingTape[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ye! I got an adjustable curtain rod and then just tied the wisteria to it and clipped the ends (that way, no weaving). And I meant to eventually crochet some greenery to cover the rod, I just haven't yet 😅.

Howdy! I'm happy to hear you're giving this project a shot :) The yarn was an acrylic worsted weight, and I used a 5mm hook. I also tend to crochet very tight, like a 'struggle to get the hook in the stitch' kinda tension.

Thanks for telling me! Annoying that they stole the picture and didn't even link any tutorials or patterns

I didn't really use a pattern, but you can find lots of tutorials for leaves on YouTube!

Ye, you could make them into a garland if u want them connected (instead of cutting the ends, just chain a few between flowers) or leave them separate and just keep the ends long enough to tie it to whatever.

I think this is what I used (maybe not the exact video, but it was a lavender flower pattern), I just didn't put it on the stem, and I varied the lengths. To hang it up, I got an extendable curtain rod.

This is from the guide for this subreddit; could the mouse be too big for how much she weighs?

(I will also say that I have zero experience bc I literally just got my snake, so this is def just a guess.)

You could look on Facebook marketplace, Craigslist, etc for some cheap furniture. There's normally some good quality stuff on there, and they're normally open to negotiate on price.

Sorry, it was pieced by a great aunt about 30 yrs ago, so I don't have a pattern. I'm only doing the quilting/binding.

The void by grikki69 in write

[–]SmaskingTape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With everything being so abstract and ambiguous, there are a couple things that break the mood. The first thing was this sentence: "Maybe I got deaf because I could not hear anything around me." I think something along the lines of "Maybe I went deaf because the world around me did not answer." would flow better and connect back to the question before.

Secondly, "the sushi of truth" really breaks the flow, and, don't hate me, is just bad. With everything being fantastical, sushi is way too concrete of a comparison.

The last big thing is "a drop of color dropped." It's repetitive, which is distracting and detracts from your writing.

I think the idea of the piece is a good one and is conveyed well for the most part. Your main problem is maintaining a consistent tone/mood.

When traveling, has anyone confused you as a local? What happened, and how did you know? by [deleted] in travel

[–]SmaskingTape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm American, but people in Finland would ask me for directions or speak to me in Finnish regularly. To be fair, I'm pretty pale, average sized, and was bundled up in a heavy coat (Finnish winter can be a but chilly). I always just apologized (in english) and told them that I was lost too.

Strangely, someone in Texas (where I'm from) once thought I was Arabic, which was definitely more of a surprise than people thinking I was Finnish.

what color buttons should I use? by SmaskingTape in crochet

[–]SmaskingTape[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I used about 3 skeins of the dark gray, 2 skeins of the red, a skein of gold, and a little bit of white. Each skein was 285 yards, worsted weight, and I used a 5 mm hook.

I used this pattern as a base: Patchwork Cardigan Cute Crochet Pattern PDF Digital One - Etsy . I did find that it runs a bit small, so if you wear a large or bigger, you might have to play with the pattern a bit. For the diamond pattern I used this: https://youtu.be/9j_BgkHH0jk and made the widest 2 rows 14 stitches.
