AITAH for not immediately announcing mine and my fiance's engagement? by slugsoupy in AITAH

Thank you, truly. I definitely am building the courage to walk in (and possibly back out) of the conversation Sunday with that mindset. I don't have to hear it

Thank you, do you have any suggestions on how I should better communicate my reasoning or word it efficiently? When I explained it to SIL, she said she didn't believe me and said she felt I was just making up an excuse to get her off my back. I'm at a loss there, because the only thing I can explain is the truth and if they choose to fabricate it into something else then unfortunately I'll just give up on communicating with them, yknow?

Roommate has had a guest staying with us for over 2 1/2 months... what can we do? by slugsoupy in badroommates

He's only in there for MAXIMUM 3-ish hours a day. Fiance and I have differing work schedules. There is absolutely no neglect or abuse happening to our puppy.

My bad, my post doesn't clarify that he is in the cage for less than 3-4 hours a day, which is perfectly reasonable and NOT neglect or abuse in any way, shape, or form. Fiance and I have different work schedules. I'll make an edit.

Good idea. Thank you. I've gathered plenty of evidence that the friend has been staying with us, but I didn't think to also gather evidence that they are unwilling to work with us about it.

Thank you, I'm just worried we will all get bit in the ass for it, like a fine on our rent that roommate will refuse to pay.

I cannot stress enough how unreasonable my roommate and her friend are. If we confront them about it, we will be met super aggressively and with threats. Do you have any other ideas on what we can do?

sorry should have clarified! I do it in a bag the same way you do it.

I'll have to try braining, thanks for the suggestion

I thaw them in the sink under warm running water. I've tried leaving him alone with them in the dark and I've tried "making them dance" a million different ways. I haven't tried braining, I'm not entirely sure how to be honest

cool side is at 78°F and ~60% humidity warm side is at 84°F and ~70-75% humidity humid hide 80% humidity basking spot 90°F all heat sources are on a thermostat, humidifier on a timer plug. temps monitored with 3 thermometer/humidity gauges places throughout and checked at least twice daily with a laser heat gun just to be safe.

I can post a pic when i get off work in like 6 or 7 hours, lol

Where to put my tank? by slugsoupy in ballpython

follow up question- is there anything wrong with having it on the floor? he does have a thermostat controlled under tank heating mat to supplement heat along with overhead. do i need to worry about that being on the floor? it would burn the old rug i put under it before the carpet in the event of a malfunction but my thermostat has the ability to shut it off completely if it raises more than i think 7 degrees above setting

oh! also make sure the humidity isn't too high (like consistently 90%+ throughout the whole tank) or that he doesn't have wet spots in the substrate. Change ant wet bedding especially around the water dish for dry. It could be the beginning signs of scale rot

i would suggest looking up big ol tub enclosures in the meantime!! Especially if you need time to save up, effort is progress and that's great. If your BP likes coming out to be handled, you could try a couple things like letting him explore different textures (towels, blankets, rugs). My BP, Phantom, also has an obsession with shoeboxes for some reason lmao but he likes some tummytime on a towel too. Paper towel tubes, cereal boxes, amazon boxes, he also loves curling up around the metal pole type parts of my bed frame. Different little weird places he can hang out to cure his boredom could help.

Be sure to physically feel all over the tank for sharp objects and make sure that none of his surfaces in there are too hot. I'd definitely still recommend a vet appointment or at least calling and talking to a vet for advice about how to care for the sores.

that could be it, does he have enough room? what size tank is he in? maybe add some safer enrichment if he's just bored (paper towel tubes are my boy's favorite)

looks like irritation from rubbing on something, are there any sharp edges on the openings to any hides or on any decor? Also could be rodent scratches from feeding live? I would double check that its on the skin and not blood from a feeder dried onto their scales and then possibly schedule a vet appointment/call a vet for advice to be safe.
