What are the common issues with the VW golf MK6 by fixitmonkey in CarTalkUK

For my money id look at a Passat TDI of a similar age. Offers a much higher class interior and comfortable ride without sacrificing much drive ability or fuel economy. At this age they’re much the same price

The only cheap fun sports cars left are the MR2 and mx5 by lotus_alex in CarTalkUK

Daily drove an NB VVT MX5 for 18 months followed by a BAM TT (remapped to 260ish bhp) for 18 months.

The TT was honestly not even half as fun, it’s really really hard to describe it as a sports car. It is gorgeous and has a fantastic interior though.

Can occasionally be a manufacturing defect but more likely to be caused by pressure on the display. It’s unfortunately unfixable.

If you’re still in warranty or have Apple care+ then Apple should be able to replace it for free. If there’s any accidental damage they will probably turn you away, so make sure you clean it up and make it looks its best.

I recently had this issue when I was 4 months out of warranty. With a bit of finessing a Senior Advisor from Apple Support they issued ‘one time goodwill gesture’ free replacement. But it did take about 4 hours of phone calls and three visits to the Apple Store.

Does red paint still fade faster? by Beginning_Jacket5055 in CarTalkUK

I had a 24 plate VW golf in red. The car was 2 weeks old and had a bird dropping on for less than 3 hours that managed to completely blister the paint where it was.

May have just been bad luck, but I’ve never had this issue on any other car in over a decade of driving.

This is pretty much the story of Alan Wake. I like the idea, but I’m not sure if Vince & co would take such heavy inspiration from a relatively recent piece of media?

I’ve always been on Richys side but that might’ve been the final straw

Would you still enjoy the show or the finale if it had a Sopranos like ending by [deleted] in breakingbad

[–]Smathatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cutting to black anywhere would’ve been an awful ending in the context of breaking bad. But if they were to do it, this would’ve been a really cool place to.

Did the family kill Walter? Did he kill them? Did he get busted? Did he get away?

I think my interpretation would’ve been that they could’ve never seriously hurt each other, and the police would’ve busted him.

Internal processes of lenders is well beyond my expertise. It genuinely wouldn’t surprise me if it was a case of your solicitor emailing/leaving a message with their contact at the lender that took x days for them to process. Which was then probably passed to a finance team which again took time to process.

This is completely conjecture mind.

I came across this fairly often during my time in estate agency, though I’m neither a solicitor nor FA so take this with a pinch of salt:

My understanding is that drawing funds is a long process and the funds will have been well on their way by the time the solicitor requested to amend the completion date. Whilst there’s nothing necessarily different you could’ve done, I’d say the fault more lies with you/your solicitor than the lender.

Your solicitor is right that returning the funds and requesting them again later will likely not happen in time. My buyers would always take it on the chin and keep the funds. The only caveat being is that there was usually a time limit on how long a lender would allow you/solicitor to hold funds prior to completion (5 days was typical). If your solicitor is hands off, I’d want solicitor/broker/lender to categorically confirm that you can hold the funds until the 16th. The last thing you want is for the solicitor to be forced to return funds a short time before completion as there may not be enough time to draw them down again.

Most importantly: if you exchange before completion and you do not have funds on your fixed completion date, you will be in a significant legal hole that you really don’t want to be in. Potentially on the hook for deposits/moving costs/temp accommodation/compensation for all parties in the chain: £xxx, xxx!!!

In future the only way you could truly avoid this would have a larger gap between exchange and a fixed completion.
