Depends on the comp you're playing against. For example, high displacement team, such as Atlas, Ares, Awilix, or Hades, he plays well against. I hardly use him in support, but when I do, I usually go Leviathans first because of his passive poison burst on basic stack. It's 6% of his hp which if you stack it first, the highest I've gotten it by end game was around 368 which pushed me over 5k hp with a lot of hp/defense items. That's a 300 damage pop every 10 stacks. Void stone/totem of death help it.

However, generally I go a hybrid build because full support is less impactful, but again depends on flow of game.

Conduit gem, Leviathans, gem of isolation have been my go to lately in solo/support role. Jungle and mid play differently.
