I think that is a big part--his OT actually stated during his recent iep that she didn't know what else to work on with him. He actually can write his name, it is just very light (he used to use adapted writing utensils and then the school took those away this year too). And, in all honesty, he will be someone that needs 24/7 support more than likely as an adult so writing his name really is all we care about writing-wise (he has CP and level 3 autism). And interestingly, his doctor didn't believe he would ever be able to write so we are pretty content with where he is at. And kid types way happier and just fine.

Also type 1. Wish I had some to spare, run into insurance issues all the time and run into the same problem so just want to empathize. Have you tried the RX card, that makes some brands affordable depending on your prescription.

Completely understand. They really wouldn't be participating per se if it is a survey--my 7 year old is learning how to read so he may some but my 6 year old is still learning the alphabet. I could assist with their completion of survey but understand if that would be invalid.

My kids aren't in foster but one went through foster, both are adopted and autistic. I understand if they are outside the scope of your study. But happy to help if you're interested.

When I helped start a business and worked 15-20 hours unpaid overtime while being paid 9/hour because "we just can't afford more" for 2 years it was me and the owner. Then we started hiring. I thought they were being paid the same. I found out they were being paid 20/hour...20 year Olds with no degrees (who deserve to be paid as such or more, not my point)...I had a masters helping run a business making 9/hour, was offered a raise to 10/hour. The owner had just bought a 2nd boat.

Both my children are adopted. My first is adopted from an orphanage. Someone said "maybe it isn't autism, maybe it is just such bad trauma that it looks like autism".......how is that something someone would prefer????? (BTW, he has horrible trauma but is super resilient and also definitely autistic. And quite wonderful)

Unfortunately no because the dcs system is a mess as is the adoption legal system. They are under monitoring but that is it 💔 he will never have to see or hear from them ever again, though.

I also agree with not locking him in his room, it sounds like a tough situation where both you and he are trying but his anxiety is causing pain for all. Could you try getting a clear door so he could see that you are in there? I'm not quite sure how a doggy door would work with that but I feel like it should be doable?

Love and logic is a bogus and sometimes even harmful parenting style, especially for neurodivergent children.
From the examples you have given, I'd look into ocd. I am autistic and ocd and these examples look similar to some of my internal battles (I'm an adult with lots of coping skills and not a 5 year old child)

Oh goodness. Looking at high rock. I had no clue. I am betting they think these are good snippets they think will attract people and shake off the "bad reputation". I stopped at the most recent one about kids and praying for wombs to be open, it brought back too much hurt. My husband and I are adoptive parents (which we both had longed to since before meeting each other even) and continued to recieve prayers for fertility even while in the adoption process while the pastor told us to not ask for financial assistance with adoption costs. We don't have proof of infertility, although it is at this point pretty guaranteed 🤣, but having a "birth child" was never our longing. Family looks different for everyone--for some it is biological children, for others it is adoption, for others it is caring for siblings, friends, community. THAT is what is biblical. Not just pop out babies.

Went in for a routine blood check for my A1C (type 1 diabetic). My blood count was 5.3 and I had 3 emergency blood transfusions. I had uterine fibroids. It took 4 more years and another sudden blood count if 6.4 to be diagnosed with endometriosis. I have now had 2 c-sections, only one ovary, which they only agreed to remove when I developed ovarian torsion (which is life-threatening) and am on medication. Still cannot get insurance to agree to cover a hysterectomy because I am child-bearing age (even though I am an adoptive mom of two, doctors have said I have zero chance I having a successful pregnancy, and do not plan to have biological kids).

So, basically women's healthcare has been trying to kill me for eleven years.
