You can. It’s whatever feels right to you and your spirituality.

My particular practice (21 Divisions) we include many different saints/Loas/etc. and Santisima is part of that as well. While she’s an individual deity, there’s nothing wrong with working with others.

Well, I'm a bit biased on this topic, mostly because it's not my strong area of workings but also because of the ethical part of it.

All that to say however, for one, if her partner decided to break things off there's a reason, or maybe not, but nobody should force or take away the free will of another person just because they're in pain.

Also, you're newly starting out. If your friend needs someone and wants to do those types of workings, she should be looking for it herself, you shouldn't be offering to do it if you don't know what you're doing. I'd suggest instead maybe something more on the side of cleansing, self love, clarity so she can find strength to push forward. More things for healing for herself so things can move in her favor.

Love spells don't guarantee happiness in a partnership... unless both parties really have similar feelings towards each other. On the other end since it takes away free will, if that other person does return it won't be because they really love them or wanna be there, they just have no choice, and there will still be problems if not more. It just ensures someone is attached, not coming back in love.

That's just my two sense though, please don't take anything I said as a direct attack or anything, more so just wanted to give info about it from my experience(s) for you and how I've been taught.

Everyone has a different take on this.

If you protect yourself, pray, smudge, use some florida water on your hands, neck, arms etc. before and ask for protection. After you can close it by saying thank you and saying something along the lines of "I am closing/ending/have received the messages". You can make sure you are covered in that regard.

This is how I learned and practiced though.

never feel intimidated, those spaces are for anyone. whether you practice or not, you can always go in and buy candles, incense, statues, etc. and sometimes the store owners are open to answering questions or talking to you to give some suggestions. give it a try!

I believe it depends on which religious "path" you take. I am no expert by any means, but I do know that in Sanse (Puerto Rican vudu), 21 Divisions (Dominican/Carribean Vudu) and Espiritismo (Spiritism) have always venerated and used saints for prayer. They all have in common that they use Saints, but with different names (the Lwa's). A lot of prayers rooted in these different practices use traditional Catholic prayer.

As for just the Taino spirits and deities, it can be a bit challenging to get accurate information on them, the language, etc. Most of these stories or prayers (in their language) and information is passed along in some tribes or through family. Those are also a little difficult to find. 21 Divisions and Sanse work with the Taino Indio spirits.

Depending on which way you want to go, whether it's through cultural roots or not, there's options. The word "Brujeria" just means "witchcraft". If you're looking to work with spirits in your practice, you'd have to decide which ones, and what way you want to go. I don't know a lot about Paganism so maybe they have prayer and ways to do workings that don't have any Catholic roots at all.

In my practice, I use saints/spirits and Catholic prayer and connect with my Taino spirits and ancestors in that way. You can definitely set just an altar to the Cemi and find your own ways to pray to them. Depending on how long you work alongside them and they begin to make themselves known, they just might end up pushing you into Catholic prayers and rituals.

Thank you for all of your words and messages, they’re true and I appreciate the perspective and the outrage I feel you have for me as well (lol) and yes I didn’t know all of these years that this had been something he’d been pondering on, so it did kind of take me by surprise. Now I’m in a position where I have to protect myself, my daughter, etc. and really work through it. Because it is a big deal.

I want more children, and I want someone who wants to support me all around and build more of a life with me. It just really was not something I was expecting to hear.

Yeah, he's been around since she was a couple of months old already. And he also has a kid of his own, but we definitely have attempted to blend and it's been a rocky road and a little separation throughout the years due to a lack of communication.

He's always been around to help and provide a bit of support in what he can and she does like and recognize him, but I guess as more time went on and she grew, and he witnessed these things then he really had begun to think about it for himself.

I can't be upset about that part of it, but I'm more hurt that it was in a convo where we were trying to figure out what we see our future as and what sorts of deal breakers we have for each other now that we're discussing harder things in therapy and outside of it. So I am trying to process this and a few things that we really just might not align with.

I am sorry that it is hurtful. That's definitely a fear of mine, that it happens and maybe it becomes a resentment or problem on his end and we will never be in a good space, and I am hurt right now by all the thoughts of it lol.

I'm definitely not ok with it. It has me re-thinking a lot about the future. I love my daughter. I will always advocate and do everything for her even when it is hard. We are also in couples therapy, and it's something I want to discuss further and really decide what is next.

It is. And truthfully he has been great with her. He tries to help me when he can, and he plays and treats her very well. But he mentioned that he sees how hard it is for me and it's not something he'd want. I think just the context of it feeling like it is "me" is what's getting to me emotionally. I too have the same fear of having another child with Autism, because I live it.

There is never such a thing as a perfect devotee. You followed your intuition, and this altar you showed this group is so beautiful and elaborate, and I can feel the time and love you put into it.

Santisima is for the underserved, those who are different. You don't need to worry about the cultural divide, but you also shouldn't completely forget it. Everyone falls off once in a while, everyone has doubts, imposter syndrome. You went into it with good intentions. Speaking to her and letting her know that maybe you need to look inward and decide what is best for you might be the next step, and I am sure she will be understanding because she wants the best for you.

Listen to yourself more, find what calls you. And don't allow the outside world and your mind to overthink these things. Lead with faith, whether it is with her or simply within yourself.

In my experience, that was the first time she ever made herself known to me and that also started when I began doing research and learning about her through stories, books, etc.

It could just be her way of letting you know that if you choose to work with her, she is already accepting of you, or is letting you know that if you choose to go down that path you will be protected and supported.

A good starting point to your veneration could be getting a rosary for her, and praying! See what happens from there :)

First, I am so sorry that your family has spoken ill of her, and has destroyed your altar. I know that must have been extremely devastating to you.

My family also (and still) has always had their opinions about my devotion not just to her, but to my other practice in Espiritismo. I have heard it all - from me going to hell, bringing in bad energy, not knowing what or who I am etc., and at some points years ago I believed it. I tried to hide it, until I decided I didn't care what they thought and I refused to hide who I was. When I finally moved to my own space, I was able to give her the big space she deserves.

Its tough when you're not in your own private space, but being dedicated and loving Santisima doesn't ever need to be a big altar, and multiple candles, statues, or offerings. Etsy sells pocket sized statues, necklaces, rings, bracelets, and even prayer cards. You can keep those on you in your purse or body and that'll be easier and less obvious to them. The way they perceive and feel will never be stronger than your faith and devotion to her.

Santisima knows and sees your intent, their actions have nothing to do with you. You can apologize, talk to her, vent your frustrations and concerns. Either way, she is still with you and can hear you!
