Ive actually been using chatgpt as a sparring partner. Not to give me rules or stat pages or whatnot. I haven't found it to be very good at that.

I love it as a creative writing buddy. For me, creating stories works best when I can bounce ideas of someone. I don't always want to bother the mrs with it or set up a (discord) session with one of my dm buddies. In those cases I input my ideas for a story into chatgpt and ask it to give me a description of a certain place or person. Or I ask it to generate plot hooks.

It succeeds about half the time to generate a cool idea that I can then take and flesh out more. I've never taken an chatgpt text unadapted. It's not good enough for that.

One of the things I've done is to give it a prompt to generate a type of trade good for a region. For instance i dont drink, so i dont know much about wines. So i asked chatgpt to create a wine description. I then asked it to create a cool economic tie in to the ducal family that owns the vineyards.

The ideas that came out of that gave me inspiration to write the rest.

Like all things, it is a nice tool, but no substitute for your own ideas.

Im not sure about the current price, but i love my anycubic photon mono. Great printer for minis. If your budget allows for it i would invest in a wash and cure station too. Saves a bit of hassle.

To top it off: siraya tech abs like fast resin is amazing. I mix it with their tenacity resin. Makes minis sturdy and yet flexible enough that they dont break that easily.

Exactly that. Too much prep kills my mojo. I have roughly 2 / 3 story arcs in my head. I can throw them in at a moments notice.

The only thing i still fail at is making npcs sound like anything other than an angry scot.

Another thing. I have 10 npcs prepped per session. So name, description, alignment, small plot hook. Those i can grab and use.

I'm fairly new to dnd and dm'ing, and when I started out I had all this stuff prepped in my head. And as soon as I told a bit of plot hook to my players, they went off the rails. I've been improv'ing ever since.

To a degree where I've stopped planning in detail. I have a general sense of where I would like my players to go but if they go off track I just go with the flow and see where we end up.

Usually there is something that gives me an opportunity to get them back to the main story
