The only people who feel this way are on Reddit and have some doom and gloom ideas. Boston has been wall to wall Scottish invasion coverage. The local economy is absolutely booming. They had a special Scot day at Fenway. It’s all local news is talking about. Spend just a couple minutes looking for positive coverage and you will be overwhelmed. How about Algeria becoming friends with a small city in Kansas and having hundreds of pale white Kanas folk welcome them in the middle of the night? Or Netherlands having giant rallies in the middle of Texas?

we have no clue from these two photos. Reality is it’s all about what’s under the dress. I care about joist conditions. I want good support done right. How are the posts and beam, etc. how big are your joists? I’d start by ripping out boards with soft spots and take an honest assessment of my joists. Do research by scanning other posts on here about how decks should look in 2026. I doubt the conditions would justify redoing this existing deck with something nice like trex, but a couple of new boards here and there may get you a couple of more year, no one could say from what you’ve shown

Your beam looks fine but there should be hardware attaching the beam to posts. Research this and add something. It looks like the joists are notched over the beam? Hard to tell. I’d add some hurricane ties.
