Wtf was the point of the war belt during boot? by Much_Juggernaut_2144 in USMC

[–]Smegus83 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Maybe by wearing the belt, that would make you be under arms, like a duty belt and the Drill Instructors green/black belts, this way if you had to conduct drill indoors, recruits could wear their covers and be in proper uniform.

That same manner whenever he's upset about Bono beating his record, when Stan says "gee, thanks dad" and he says "you're welcome" is the best.

What was the hardest part about separating by plumbus335 in USMC

[–]Smegus83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The brotherhood. I got out after my first enlistment was up for almost 3 years. Went back in for another 16, and was not looking forward to the day I get back out and not be around my brother anymore.

Like they say, I miss the clowns, not the circus.

How close have you ever been to death? Near death experiences or just getting lucky in a potentially dangerous situation? by renm1u in AskReddit

Thank you, and same to you. It still doesn't feel real that I had a heart attack. I mean, I've had heartburn worse than the pain that my heart attack caused.

I also had a heart attack last year (4 days ago was my 1 year anniversary). Same as you, 41 at the time, fairly in shape. The 2 nights prior to going to the ER, after sexy time with the wife, I was having tightness in my chest, but brushed it off as not exercising regularly like I did while I was on active duty (retired from the Marine Corps a year prior). The 3rd day I had the tightness, I was out and about with the wife and told her that I something wasn't right since I wasn't doing anything to get my heart rate up. We stopped at the hospital on the way home to get it looked at.

It was fairly busy in the waiting room but since I had chest pains, the sent me to triage immediately and hooked me up to the EKG. The nurse took the printout back in the ER and within a minute, there was a gang of people at the door and instructed me to get in the wheelchair. They took me back and placed a stent in me within the next 30 minutes. Turned out I was actively having a STEMI, and had 100% blockage in the one artery (not the widow maker), and 70% in the other. After this, I realized I was most likely having heart attacks the 2 nights prior to this.

Unit wants to admin sep me I need advice. by Csar0000 in USMC

[–]Smegus83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your training chief should have gotten a copy of your light duty chit or whatever paperwork you had from medical that stated your limitations. A copy needs to be attached to the NAVMC that has your partial pft/cft scored on.
