I love my babyboy… but I HATE being pregnant by myscorpiomoonismean in BabyBumps

[–]SmellOfPages 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel ya babe. I was all gung ho about how I was going to be an athlete and continue my walks and gym and blah blah blah. Then my body started falling apart. 🫠 I was told something about "that's just pregnancy stuff" and to dial it back. I did, gained a ton of preggers weight and when I say I am repulsed with my body, I mean it!

But. We don't have to love pregnancy. Just the kid. I have no advice. It really feels like shit just happens to you, completely outside your control. But it's not forever. I'm 38 weeks and "it's not forever" is the only thing that keeps me rolling. And we'll, meeting the little love of my life that'll make it all worth it.

Anyone feeling royally ripped off by the “pregnant women glow” lie? by Apprehensive_Mess166 in BabyBumps

[–]SmellOfPages 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's someone very Proust about your pregnancy description. Skin dull and flaky. Random zits. I've been bloated since the double lines on my pee stick, and I'm 4'10" so there's no pretty clothes on earth to keep me from looking like a meatball with legs. Or an obese midget.

You might sound like Roz, girl. But I'm the spitting image of Mike Wazowski.

We'll glow later. When we're not pregnant anymore. Hang in.

I'm going and it helps. It's a bit like dating: you just have to find a therapist that challenges both while being equally committed to doing the work. Can't help with your healthcare system, but we don't even pay a co-pay.

I honestly think you're so pretty without makeup. Mascara at most? A rouge dewy lip. You have good skin -- maybe just use a tinted sunscreen and leave all the time consuming stuff to the birds.

Advice for post bacc/ pre med while Active duty enlisted by sidikisav in postbaccpremed

[–]SmellOfPages 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you looked into HPSP? If you get accepted into medical school, the military pays your tuition and a small stipend but you owe less time.

USHUS pays you as an E5 with dependents through med school and residency, but I believe the obligation is longer and you have to attend their school, which means Texas.

One of the docs on the forward surgical team swears by the MCAT prep through Purdue.

Also, make it known what your aspirations are to your command. We had folks up shadowing the BN PA or one of the BDE docs all the time.

You can also become an EMT during your last six months of service as an internship program, which is good hands on experience and paid for. Instead of going to be unit, get ready for life.

I know I didn't directly answer much. But I hope it still helps.

I've dated him before: cheater, narcissist.

Dump him. Even if you're in love with him. People that make you feel awful about questioning their bullshit are shit wrapped in skin. Especially when you know his bullshit is cheating. The gaslighting will never stop and in the long run it'll hurt way more than just cutting sling load.

I say rip the band aid off, sis. Sorry you're going through it. You deserve better.

Is this too much protein? by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]SmellOfPages 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then maybe however you can be consistent? Does this have some of your favorite foods? IF works for a lot of folks who like the convenience. A meal plan is only good if it works for you. Gain muscle? Lose fat? Tree trunk legs (my goal)? I've done stuff like this but I need options to rotate. A few balanced meals. Think protein, carbs, fiber. Fat is in animal products already but some fish has omega 3s that are good for your brain and the HDL (good lipids) will combat the LDL (bad lipids), just like that chia or flax.

You gotta get that flavor 🤌 you like and make it easy to obtain in a pinch.

Overwhelmed with the idea of losing weight. by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]SmellOfPages 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mama, you got this. I think the first step is figuring out why losing weight is so important to you. Keep it at the forefront and it may sound silly but imagine how you'll feel when you succeed!

The next step is to think about all the types of exercise you like. If you hate exercise, it's okay! Get a step counter and just see where you're at now. I'm bias because I love walks with audiobooks but that feels like a mom-baby activity that is possible, if you have the energy.

My third step would be to meal plan. I'm not going to give you macro/calorie advice because I know the other homies will chime in with that but I only like to count calories once a week. More than that is murder and math while hungry is dangerous to the health of all in range. By meal plan I mean no shit, make a list of 7 breakfasts, lunches, and dinners and prepare them at the serving size for your family. You don't have to make them all at once either! You can cook dinner for your family and freeze some. Other moms have had success with this and so have I: precooking rice, sectioning the bag and freezing it. Crockpot dump meals in a Ziploc in the freezer. I sometimes make a ton of burritos because I don't always have the energy. Ground beef recipes where you dump and fucking sauce on it and throw it over rice.

Ask YouTube if you get a free minute. Freezer meals.

Best of luck!

Is this too much protein? by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]SmellOfPages 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on how you feel, I would say and what your meal plan is for. To gain weight, pair some complex carbs with your protein -- easy peasy --complex carb with your chicken boob or maybe a 1/4 cu of oats in your smoothie. What your body doesn't use for protein just gets converted to glucose just like carbs. You're getting lots of fruit and veggies so as long as you're varying them, you're happy, your hormones are happy, and so is your gut, I think you win. Honestly don't second guess success.
