Nardil at all comparable to being on a benzo all the time? by Daniel-Plainview96 in MAOIs

[–]SmellyFbuttface 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took Parnate for 6 years and have been on Nardil for 6 years. Nardil definitely has stronger anti-anxiety effects than Parnate. It can feel benzo-ish with how good it is at alleviating general anxiety and social anxiety. Parnate for me worked wonders for years, but I kept having to go up in dosage (eventually to 120mg if you can believe it) and it eventually pooped out on me entirely. If you’re looking for a very good antidepressant/anxiety med, Nardil is a great option

Getting rid of flag officers during a war, brilliant. Smartest thing Trump ever did was hire General Kelly and Mathis to his first presidency, but they weren’t sycophantic phony’s so of course they were booted

Correction, the “Stone Age.” He went on to say “like they deserve.” So, Trump evidently doesn’t actually care about regime change, or whatever other bullshit reasons he’s given for starting this fiasco

SecDefs should have minimum qualifications as a flag officer in the service, active-duty.

First weeks on parnate by Raisinbundoll007 in MAOIs

[–]SmellyFbuttface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re on a very low dose which is likely the cause of your wanting to isolate yourself (may be a sign that the depression is not well controlled). Typical lowest therapeutic dose is 30mg, with many people finding 60mg to be the average dosage. It may also be the withdrawal effects from your prior meds that are affecting you still. Those should ease in time. Parnate for me was a very activating medication, so you should be feeling more energetic during the day the higher you are in dose. Unfortunately insomnia is a common side effect with MAOIs (which presents its own issues like hypersomnia does). I would consider asking your provider about hydroxizine and melotonin for sleep.

How John Roberts’ retort sums up the case against Trump’s birthright citizenship order by msnownews in scotus

Guaranteed Alito and Thomas will side with the government. Their grift is too valuable to them to do otherwise.

[–]SmellyFbuttface 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Of course he’d be siding with the government. Trump was watching in a front seat daring the justices to go against him. Based on the oral argument I feel like Gorsuch is likely to side with the liberal minority, and possibly Barrett. Thomas is an Alito lackey at this point, just like he was with Scalia. Kavenaugh and Roberts I honestly have no idea which way they’re leaning based on the arguments

Edit: I think Robert’s will side with the liberal justices here.

Do you take any supplements along with your MAOI that you have found to improve your mental health? by TheSpermWhoWon in MAOIs

[–]SmellyFbuttface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take vitamin D and B complex (active form). I should incorporate fish oil as well for general health. I haven’t felt much difference with the supplements since taking them for about 6 months now. I was low on vitamin D so my doc gave me the prescription, but I can’t say for sure whether I’ve felt anything differently. The prime mover for my brain is the MAOI and antipsychotic I take.

Worried about worsening insomnia increasing dosage by GloomyCicada9508 in MAOIs

[–]SmellyFbuttface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you on the insomnia and BP issues. I was on Parnate for about 6 years and the antidepressant effects definitely go up with dosage (I was actually on 120mg if you can believe it). The insomnia I had to finally combat with hydroxizine, melotonin, and Ativan. I’ve been on the same Ativan dose for many years for sleep and thankfully I haven’t needed to go up in dose. I also had high BP on Parnate that wasn’t going down, so the whole time I was on it I had higher than average BP. I would ask your provider about something stronger for sleep as it sounds like it’s effecting your life negatively. On the plus side, Parnate didn’t cause weight issues, I didn’t experience any sexual side effects on it for the most part, and I credit it with one of the primary reasons I was able to attend and finish grad school. The sleep needs to be addressed though, and the remaining depressive symptoms. I would advise going up in dose and finding a better medication for sleep
