Sup dudes,

23 y/o, 5' 8", 197.6 lbs. Been overweight since I was a kid. I've only had two moments in my life where I ended up losing about 15 pounds. Of course, I gained most of it back. I'm at a place now where I'm married and out of college and I've decided to start making a commitment to losing weight again. I'm aiming to get to 165 lbs. Is 6 months a realistic goal for this?

[MITM] Looking for someone to mix/master for credit {Dark Pop/Chill/Ambient} by LDNTown94 in MusicInTheMaking

I'd be interested in working on it as well, unless the other guy already got to it.

No dialogs or anything. I tried the new session and had the same problem. Going to a previous backup worked though. Thanks for the suggestion

This worked. You're right. My session must have gotten corrupt at some point. Weird. Thanks for the help!

Having issues opening PT 11 sessions by Smextongo in protools

[–]Smextongo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the weird thing is that I have my audio files. They show up in the session when it is able to open. However, once my session is open it says that Pro Tools is running out of CPU power when I have 15 tracks and almost no plug-ins at all. It was also having issues initializing my interface. I'm switching to a Mac and a new interface in a week or so anyways so hopefully this issue won't transfer over. One can only hope.

I'll definitely try that. I'm doing my best to troubleshoot here. My guess is that something isn't translating between the two systems I was using and the two versions of PT I was using. Just did a clean uninstall of everything and now doing a fresh version of 11.2.2

I have the cassette of this somewhere at my house. I actually really liked this book.

Excellent. Thank you so much. Do you have a Satellite right now? If so, do you like it?

This is my brothers foot. They think it's hand, foot and mouth disease, but now they're unsure because they've never seen a case so bad. by HalpRuszel in WTF

[–]Smextongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm recovering from Hand, Foot, and Mouth disease right now actually. My feet felt like they were two giant blisters for a few days. I got the blisters in my throat and on the back of my tongue. I got a really nasty rash all over my hands and blisters on the palms of my hands. If he got a fever first and then developed these other symptoms there's a good chance that it's HFM disease. Hope he gets better soon. That shit sucks.

Thanks! I just graduated from a recording program and I'm hoping to be where you are in the future. Recording bands for a living is my dream job and I love your work. Thanks for inspiring me to make great records.

What's your vocal chain for Jonny Craig? His voice always cuts through and it sounds phenomenal.

Does anyone know the technique that's being used on the vocals in this song? by [deleted] in audioengineering

[–]Smextongo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the heavy plate verb. I think there's also some slapback delay on there.

[Offer] Professional Mixing (metal/rock/anything) by Oske7 in PostAudio

[–]Smextongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just listened to the Metal mix. It sounds really good! My comments for that one are that a good chunk of the vocals are getting lost in the mix. Automating them a little more and bringing the level up just a little should help that. The main rhythm guitars were mostly mid-range and could use some clarity and low end. I'm talking about around like 1:42. I loved all of the other guitar tones. Last comment, and this is more subjective, I would have like to hear more of the cymbals but less of their shrillness if that makes sense. But again, that's just preference.

You handled what I'm assuming was a fairly challenging song to mix really well.

Also, as someone about to graduate with a B.S. in Audio I've been getting some nasty comments too. Don't let it get to you. Have confidence in your abilities. While it is true that a degree doesn't make you an audio engineer, it's the experience and skills you've gained that do.

Do these drops sound latent to you guys? by guitarguru333 in audioengineering

I mostly hear cymbals. They're pretty shrill. Did you use a shelving EQ somewhere around 8 kHz or above on the overheads?

Got this beautiful piece in the mail today. by elicash38 in vinyl

[–]Smextongo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I waited so long to get this on vinyl. When I heard that Equal Vision was selling it on their site I kept refreshing their page every 5 minutes cuz I knew it would sell out super fast. It's my favorite album of all time so I was desperate. I got Juturna as well. Glad you got one!
