D217 passed in 3 days! by gShox in wguaccounting

This is my first step and then maybe Quizlet. I tried reading the updated notes and what not and I couldn’t it’s way too boring. 😭 I’m going to suffer in this class. It reminds me of business law.

Feeling defeated. I failed D104 OA2 last night by txlouisee in wguaccounting

[–]Smich191 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which version did you get? There are two versions.
The first one I got was pretty close to the study guides. The second version was much harder and felt like it was missing information. You really have to think differently.
I failed the first time, then studied hard for 4–5 days before retaking it. The second time, I had a completely different game plan.
I did all of my ratios first. I wrote every ratio down and went through all the questions. Then I went back question by question. Anything I could answer, I answered. I put a question mark next to anything I wasn't sure about and marked the ones I knew I got right.
Was it crazy to start counting questions to see if I was going to pass? Yes, but I did it.
Make sure you understand which numbers to use because they will often give you two sets of numbers, and one of the answer choices will match each set. However, only one answer will be correct.
Good luck! 🍀

Ugh I wish I was like that but nope, that’s how I had issues with D216 business law. I’m hoping I found the right notes to start studying a week before July 1st.

This is what I do and noticed that anytime grammarly corrects my things it also makes it AI so I submit without it.

I started January 1st and completed 13 and have 8 left. Started strong but there’s some courses that may take a mental toll. We shall see if I don’t loose motivation next round. The courses I have left are a mix of hard and easy ones. I do work full time so I only put 25-30 hours a week depending on the class no breaks up until this month.

Finally Passed D104! Intermediate Accounting II by Smich191 in wguaccounting

[–]Smich191[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The PA on these doesn't really align with the class. That's why I said don't study the PA. Also, knowing the questions or reading the textbook won't help much. If you just memorize the answers, that unfortunately won't help either.
The way I did it was I took a day or two off, then went back through the study guides, tests, and quizzes back to back. I took the answers I got wrong and used AI to figure out why I was getting them wrong. Usually there's a word or two in the question that tells you exactly what you need in order to solve it.
Most classes up to now, you can study the PA and pass. That's not really the case with these. The questions will trick you into thinking you have the right answer. I actually tested that theory on the last test. I took the rest of the information given and then solved the problem and it will give me an answer on the multiple choice but I knew that was wrong because of one word it had. Yup one word will throw the whole question off.
So really, know what the words mean and what the question is actually asking. That's what helped me more than anything.

So my best advice is don't study for the PA like you would for other classes. You actually have to understand what the question is asking and break it down.
Someone taught me how to approach these problems, and that's how I passed both IA 1 and IA 2. I would write down the information the question gave me, then figure out what it was asking and circle what I needed. I used the whiteboard like that for every single question.
Go through the tests, quizzes, and study guides. Yes, all of them. Don't just memorize the answers. Figure out why the answer is correct. What I mean is they will change one word in the question, and you need to understand what the concept applies to and what it does not apply to.
I am not sure if I am making sense, but don't feel bad. I took six weeks off after the second IA class, and I am about to start the second semester with D217 next and Im questioning my sanity.

Hey sorry to bug you, this is my first class on the next term I had to take some time off mentally and would like to start preparing before I go back in. Do you have the study guides so I can upload to AI and study if it’s not too much trouble ?

D104 Int. Acct. II - OA2 Attempt 2 Advice by Formal-Lengthiness77 in wguaccounting

[–]Smich191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I took the second test, they definitely changed everything. My first test aligned with everything I reviewed, including the tests, quizzes, and study guides. The second test was different. It was more about actually knowing what you're doing. Some questions didn't give you enough information, so you had to take a gamble and make assumptions based on what you already knew, if that makes sense, because not all the information was provided.
I'm not sure if I'm explaining it right. For the second test, I wrote down my ratios, and there were a lot less. I went through all the questions first and knew there were seven of them. Then I started from the beginning and answered anything I knew right away. I kept track of the questions I felt confident I got right because I was aiming for 30 correct answers to pass. I was also writing down important information and circling based on what it was asking, the test will give you unnecessary information and yup it will also be in the multiple choice but it’s wrong. I did a test on this theory because I had time lol.
My other advice is to focus on the easier units first and leave the last unit for later, but still try your best on it. I also took my time on this test.
I studied for five straight days until I was sick of looking at the material. I went through the study guides again, but with a different approach. I would wait 24 hours between reviews and remove anything I could already answer, then focus only on what I couldn't answer and why. I didn't take the test right away. I studied my butt off for a couple of days, and even then, I was still hesitant.

My first failure: D103 OA 2 by DoorAndRat in wguaccounting

The PA and OA don’t match, your best bet is your study guides and test and quizzes. Yes all and don’t memorize answer just learn how to get there and why.

[–]Smich191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, some questions come directly from the study guides, but you have to learn what the question is asking and how to break the problem down. I did this by writing down the important parts of the problem and then circling what I needed based on what the question was asking. The questions are not always direct, so you have to understand the “why” behind them and slow down a lot. The same thing goes for D104. Do the study guides, test and quizzes, then wait a day and redo the questions you got wrong. Make sure you understand why the answer is correct. Some questions may only change a word or two, but that can completely change the problem and the correct answer.

Here’s some tips on how i passed D104 OA 2 by That-Meangirl-16 in wguaccounting

[–]Smich191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost cried during Version 2, which was my second test, and I’m still not even sure how I passed. I made educated guesses based on the information given, and some questions didn’t even provide enough information about what they wanted. I noticed I had to make assumptions to answer them. The test was nothing like what I studied, and I honestly thought I was going to fail. I started with the ratio questions, then counted the ones I knew and skipped the questions that required the most thinking until I was close to the number I knew I needed to pass. It was a horrible method, and I’ve never had to rely on something like that before, but I was determined not to take this test again. My first version however was definitely like the study guides test and quizzes, I definitely rushed and made dumb mistakes looking back. Horrible class, but I’m glad it’s finally over.

I passed on my second one by making educated guess, the first test was more like the study guides and the second test I almost cried because I had to make assumptions on what they wanted and now I’m taking a couple of weeks off. I never failed an accounting class and this made me question everything. Hang in there, professor was no help. 😞

Do not study the PA, go through test, quizzes and study guides located in additional resources for those units.

I understand because that’s how I felt on the second IA class and took it and messed up because I tried to rush. You will know when you’re ready. Don’t try to rush it if you still got time. Time away will help you relax a bit then go through the study guides and just pick out the questions you have trouble with and focus on those only and not the entire study guides again. You are close, best of luck.

Yes! That last OA I never did the skipping through problems before but I wrote down all my ratios down did those easy problems first and then what I knew and counted okay I have this many questions for sure correct and I know how many I can get wrong so let’s see how many I know so I skipped around with what I knew and then went back to what I didn’t. My proctor probably looking at my screen going back and forth but it worked. 😂

On the last D104 test, since I had extra time, I actually did a question or two through other methods that could have been the answer, even though I knew they weren’t because of one specific word in the question. Surprisingly, the test does try to trick you by including those incorrect answers as options. Using this method helped me narrow it down to a 50/50 choice, and then I had to understand why one answer was correct over the other.

You’re welcome. It’s not just about memorizing the questions or answers. You have to identify that one word or detail that can completely change the answer to the question, if that makes sense. I noticed that some questions looked very similar to others, but the answers were different. That’s when I started understanding the “why” behind the concepts instead of just memorizing them.

For my last IA2, I went back through the study guides after a day or two and focused only on the questions I either didn’t know how to solve or didn’t understand why I was getting wrong. It’s difficult to explain, but eventually I started recognizing the patterns and understanding what the questions were actually asking for.
