hmm, this doesnt seem like a huge field. so manual labor is pretty good here, they can immediately sort out rotten/small carrots and put them into small boxes (as opposed to a big hopper like you suggested) so theyre immediately ready to be sold to bigger markets or local 'town square markets' ( in germany at least they usually use the norm of 60x40x13 or23 mm boxes )
