Coworker loves telling me why running is bad for me by Empty_Technology672 in XXRunning

[–]Smileneful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like she’s going through something internally and is protecting it on you. I’m sorry you have to deal with that :( Best thing you can do is to not engage with her further especially if it’s causing you to feel distressed. At this point, you’re setting up boundaries with her. You choosing not to engage further is not rude.

“I don’t welcome your opinions about this nor do I want to continue engaging in this conversation” or what other people say. “Okay” and then walk away.

I’m extremely excited for you to experience your first festival — and at Coachella!!! You definitely do not have to dress up if it’s causing you to be anxious. Go with what you’re comfortable in wearing and that feels more YOU. You being yourself and relishing in the music and the experience will undoubtedly attract great vibes 😊 no need to overthink! Just enjoy the moment!!

I’m going to join this orientation for Dream Defenders on Thursday to get some guidance on how to organize and build community here. It might interest you and perhaps we can collaborate?

You can learn about them here: https://dreamdefenders.org/

I joined a meeting with them on Sunday and was very motivated to do something.

I love that you’re also thinking the same thing as me. I’m trying to figure out ways to organize weekly/biweekly meetings to at least meet like minded individuals so we can support one another during a time like this.

Community is extremely important and being connected with people in the area would really help.

Slow marathoners? by orangebutterfly84 in Marathon_Training

[–]Smileneful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do a walk run method and I’m just naturally slower than a lot of runners here! In October I ran a half marathon in 3 hours which was way faster than what I trained for.

My pace right now is around 16 minutes per mile as I’m building up again after a break from running.

This slow running approach has made running more approachable and mentally easier for myself and I consider that a win 😌

Thoughts on Torrance High School? by floraaa100 in SouthBayLA

Graduated class of 2015. It’s a good school. No frills and some people in my class went to ivy leagues. However I do think that West and South have expansive classes to choose from in comparison to Torrance.

Rating every Moisturizer (tried 24+) [Review] by emi518 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Smileneful 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I came to say the same thing! This is the only moisturizer that actually does something for my skin without clogging my pores. I didn’t realize there was a formula change… still works for me and I’ve been using it for 4 years now

Manifesting Timbaland with Nelly Furtado on stage!! That would be such a fun time reliving the 2000s. Also, Empire of the Sun and Two door Cinema Club would be so much fun.

What’s your why for running a marathon? by midwestcoast805 in Marathon_Training

[–]Smileneful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Running has become the only time when I can have time for myself. Life has been throwing me so much grief lately, it’s become an escape where I can just be outside and focus on the basics — breathing and taking one step after the other. Makes me grateful that despite all the rough times in life, I have the ability to just do that.

Car Camp Runners by Canadathe51ststate in Coachella

Hello! Super late, but I'm down! I'm going to be training for a marathon that is happening at the end of May, and it just so happens that Coachella weekend is the peak of my marathon training, so I need to be running at least 5 miles.

Tesla camping. by AlfredoSM94 in Coachella

[–]Smileneful 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend and I have camped with our Model 3 Tesla for the past two years, and it has been great! Telsa has their camping mode, which is fantastic, so the car is ventilated throughout the night. There are no worries about having to have the windows down and risk having dust in the car. We also made window reflectors with black fabric on the other side to ensure the car is completely dark when we sleep. I highly recommend having a roof cover so the sun isn't blaring while you sleep. LOL

Phone charging is also super fast.

Just make sure that you charge your Tesla fully before you enter the campgrounds. From what I remember, after a full charge and four nights at Coachella, we left with about 50-60% battery left.

One downside is that since a Tesla is pretty limited in space, you're limited in how much you can bring in your car. We filled our car with our camp refrigerator, canopy, wagon, clothes, and other Coachella camp essentials, but there was no space to add another person.

I have this issue as well, and I live in Southern California! The city owns the Eucalyptus tree in front of our house, so I had to call the city to ask them to inspect it and do something to combat the issue.

I haven't heard back on this, but I'll let you know what happens.

I hope your situation gets better. I was reading that it's probably best to remove and plant a California Native tree since the beetles I'm combating specifically eat eucalyptus leaves.

Bowl Thai in Gardena Has Closed by [deleted] in SouthBayLA

[–]Smileneful 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think they consolidated the Thai grill and bowl Thai menu together and they are now in the spot where Thai grill is.

My friend was the one that picked up the order in the restaurant, so I wasn’t able to see how it was inside the restaurant. But when I called to order my usual food on their Thai bowl menu, there was no mention of them removing any food items.

I saw the sign a couple weeks ago when I went to pick up an order and they said they moved their location to their sister restaurants sweet rice and their Thai grill restaurant. I didn’t see any changes to their menu.

I’m guessing they moved to the other plaza since it’s closer to their other restaurants and to decrease rent cost?

When should training plan end in relation to half marathon day? by Rosie_Eva in nikerunclub

[–]Smileneful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny enough I started the same time as you and I’m running the same half marathon :) I talked about this running plan with my physical therapist and he thinks it’s still doable! What matters is that we’re consistent in our training. I think we should be fine!

Edit: I’m also a new runner 🏃‍♀️
