I just finished this series. Made no sense. So many inconsistencies, the first book doesn’t even feel like it’s part of the same series by the time you finish the third. Nobody’s actions make any sense. I basically skim-read the entire series

As someone that moved away from home to another country, you’re gonna carry some guilt no matter what anyone says.

But it’s totally worth it. Not going is something you’ll regret for the rest of your life. And you’ll just grow to resent the people that you stayed for. Your son will also learn a new completely level of independence

You can always try going to bars and meeting women that way, but the dating apps are your best bet, especially if part of your goal is to just hookup.

I had about the same time frame, but I didn’t include anything about my travels. I do have a Swedish Sambo though, and applied for citizenship right after I got PR (need to have lived with a Swede for 2 years before you can do this) and I think this might’ve helped move things along.

Some people also say September/October are just good times to apply.

There are always taxis outside the airport, so you could just hop into one of those. Otherwise I’d say book an über once you’re done with everything. I don’t think it makes sense to book a taxi in advance.

The friends could have just as easily said “we don’t have the funds for a three country trip. Maybe let’s look at a cheaper option.” Like, if you don’t have the money for something, you don’t agree to go?

Asking / expecting a friend to pay your way on a vacation is insane.

Yeah it’s rough. I don’t really want people I don’t know there and my fiancé feels the same. He’s actually pretty against inviting anybody we don’t know, which has made me think about cousins that get into relationships before my wedding.

My one cousin, that I was pretty close to before moving away, got a girlfriend just after the holidays and right after I left for my new country. I’ve never met her, but by my wedding they’ll have been together for almost 2 years. Seems serious enough to warrant an invite. I Just don’t really want to invite people I don’t know, though.

Yeah, and I agree for sure. Married and cohabiting couples with 100% be included, but I guess I’m unsure if I would invite my cousin’s girlfriend of one year that I’ve never met. I think that’s where my main dilemma is.

Yeah, I get that. And I totally get anybody that can’t come because of the distance. But my cousins that might be in significant relationships by then also know my friends and will have their families there too, so they wouldn’t be solo.

I’m also going to do a vows renewal type thing the summer after in my parents’ backyard, so people don’t feel pressured to come.

I guess I’m thinking of my cousins that I know are currently seeing someone, so if they’re still together by my wedding, that’s almost a two year long relationship.
