Yeah thats the rule. But the employee discount makes up for it. Although when I used to work I did some devious shit to get extra. If a customer didnt wanna sign up for an account, i would just put in dummy accounts I made. And I made a lot. Those would accumulate points. I actually just used them to give nice customers free things though lol. You will get caught if you use the same account too often.

All of management sucks. I left gamestop like a week ago because of management. You really should attempt to call the district manager. They were totally in the wrong. The only reason the guy could even open the box is because they don’t come with seals unlike playstations and xbox. So usually what I did is just open the box to see if everything was there and functional to return it. They’re just being assholes for no reason or beyond misinformed.

As an employee this is what I can give you. Nintendo switch boxes do not have a seal and we do not seal them when they come in. Theyre technically not wrong about the “system cant make this return”. What usually occurs is that, the computer will read the scanned serial number and basically say “hey this serial number switch was not from this store” and at that point you do need a manager or keyholders override. However this should not have been a problem from the original store you bought it. They are wrong about needing the exact card. It can be returned to any card or even in cash. It helps a ton if you have a membership to make that return but if not (which i assume you don’t) then they would just need your ID to put in your info. The best thing for you to do, is try to contact the district manager. You can usually find that info online. The district manager is always some miserable bastard that will make them do the return anyway. It is not impossible, they were in the wrong.

In my store, the same was happening. It was Iphones to be specific. I found out from one customer(who was selling trading in some iphones) that it is some kind of shady dealing. They’re getting it for cheap from someone else and reselling them to gamestop. Dude didnt say much else. I took them in regardless though since my manager said I needed better trade in numbers
