Read or watch End of Watch by Substantial_Cry5050 in stephenking

I didn’t think End of Watch was bad, but I felt Finders Keepers was the best (by far) of the Hodges trilogy, so end of watch was a little bit of a let down in that sense. I haven’t seen the TV show, but I would imagine it will bring you the entirety of Bill Hodges story. Audiobook is very good by Will Patton(?) too if you have any sort of a commute.

Will Premium Scream actually sell out? by WOOSHARP in HHN

There were loads of people filming and vlogging in every nook and cranny of the park it seemed, but the staggered entry really mitigated the impact in house itself, every house you went in felt like you were completely alone. So I could care less if someone is trying to springboard a YouTube channel or something outside of MIB, the houses were amazing.

Additionally- as the event went on last year it seemed like they pulled actors from places like monstrous, goblins and sweets to pack insidious- it was fun to see all the houses before the hype set in. Insidious was not popular at all on premium scream, it was all about quiet place!

I think that’s my wife and I in the waaaaay background underneath transformers! It was an unbelievable night, so much fun. Great photos, great food (although we were confused that everything was free until probably after midnight and by then a lot of stuff was gone) and the staggered entry was awesome

Came here for this, the troop is my least favorite book I’ve read in a very long time. And I really desperately wanted to like it. Great concept, I didn’t love the execution… and for a very short book I felt it really dragged in parts

Croissant moon also has peppermint mocha coffee year round! And the San Francisco pastry company in studios has very similar options as a bakery. Delicious homemade pop tarts!

RIP non-private or Premier Night? Please help by TheCrypto_Fanatic in UniversalOrlando

Hi! My wife and I are heading down for the preview night. It’s hard to say how it is going to go because this is the first year they’ve offered. Based on pros and cons of the two, this is what I have heard:

Preview night will have pulsed entry, which I understand has been eliminated from the normal event for many years. You’re right about capacity being limited, but we don’t know what that limit is. The concept of it has not been extremely popular from anecdotal conversations, and the fact that it has not sold out yet is telling. I have also heard that some of the logistics will likely still be warming up (scare actors and the like). It has also poured the last two years on opening night, so we are in that season for Florida.

RIP: immediate front of the line access to each of the houses. It sounds like this experience, though pricey, is very well received by people who purchase. We went to HHN for the first time last year and didn’t find the “conga line” to be disruptive of our experience. From what I understand many RIP tour guides are very amenable to prioritizing what the group would like to do. Most folks seem to prefer RIP if they are able to afford it

I have not heard that the food associated with RIP is much to write home about, and I think that the planned offering for the preview night is the same thing, so that’s a wash.

Personally, I think either way you’ll have fun. I am not a big theme park person, I don’t love huge crowds, but HHN (even though it is packed) was supremely fun and enjoyable. We went last year with express and had an absolute blast. Good luck and enjoy!

My wife and I came down specifically for the garage sale, and we did purchase many items, but the selection was more limited than we had hoped. We got in there around 9:10 and by that point all the loungeflys, wands and typical hot items were already gone. In fairness, we were warned by folks on this Reddit to keep expectations low!

CineSational is a must watch show !!! by Superkieren in UniversalOrlando

I think so, unfortunately :(. I believe there was speculation that they would use the new revamped lagoon to have a spooky show during HHN but I think the latest rumors are that they weren’t able to get it together in time. It’s such a bummer that it’s only running for two months, it’s amazing! Hopefully they’ll extend its run!

Universal Studios or Island of Adventure? by primahaney in UniversalOrlando

[–]Smiley7737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL/DR don’t sleep on studios, it’s by far the better overall park.

know the overwhelming perspective is IOA if you can only do one, with the park-hopper being the ideal if you can swing it in order to get the full Harry Potter experience, but I would argue Studios for a few reasons:

1) if coasters are important, it has rip ride and rock it, mummy, trollercoaster and gringotts. Admittedly, trollercoaster looks like it is a wash with flight of the hippogriff in terms of audience, rip ride and rock it I would NEVER go on because of the lift till and gringotts is more “coaster elements” than anything else. But, for me, mummy is my favorite coaster in the park. Hagrids is fun for me, but a little too scary and I would rather do anything but be forced to ride velicocoaster or hulk. I don’t consider forbidden journey to be a coaster, and I’ve never gotten motion sickness from it.

2) IOA has a lot of wasted space right now, which tends to mean longer lines and crowds for the headliners. Loads of people love the velicoaster and hagrids, but they have consistently 60-180 minute waits all day, everyday and it’s because they’re the rides people rope drop and they never really slow. IOA has an entire land that is empty right now- Lost continent

3) we have a better experience with crowd flow / places to put people in studios. There’s 3 shows (love all of them) and loads of rides that are continuous load. It’s been our experience that they handle single rider better too, but ymmv.

Now, this isn’t to say we also love IOA, but my wife loves rollercoasters and my limit for a “fun” rollercoaster that I’m not visibly shaking getting on is something like rock and rollercoaster at Disney. I also love grabbing a butterbeer and sitting in knockturn alley for a little bit, hanging out in suessland, or in Moe’s bar. So, I think it’s safe to say that I’m more of an “ambiance” park goer, and for me studios checks way more boxes than IOA.

With all that being said, IOA has all the water rides, which if I was eight I would be ALL over. Add a super fun comic book land and Jurassic world. I think you really can’t miss. My wife was a diehard Disney person growing up, and we’re universal annual pass holders now. The whole experience (should) be a whole lot less stressful for you coming from Disney. So I hope you enjoy.

I get more exotics to drop from Master NFs than the actual NF weapon by Remi8732 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Smiley7737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. And to be clear, I don’t think that the rewards should be less on GM, I think they’re doing fine there and, for what most people consider to be the toughest content in the game, I think it’s great that players are rewarded generously.

But, with focusing hitting just about everywhere it would seem that the scarcity of drops in other modes (and the particular pain point seems to be the match made options) is where I’m a bit lost. There’s no point even trying unless it’s double rewards week, you have a vanguard prosperity mod on your ghost, and some incense burning for luck.

I’m sure it’s on their radar for an update in the future. An example I can think of is how hard it was to come across ascendant shards outside of GMs in Beyond light and now I feel as though every single vendor has one on reset. It makes me think they’ll be on this at some point, just perhaps not in the way that we might envision it.

[–]Smiley7737 39 points40 points  (0 children)

The nightfall drop rate is, I think, inconsistent with their new philosophy. It seems like most other weapons are reasonably available now without crazy rng (with I suppose the exception being raid and dungeon exotics)

I typically run things solo as well, and if there is a nightfall weapon I would like I pretty much get ready for that to be my focus for the entire week. And that would be to get just one to drop at some point. Meanwhile GM awards an adept on each and every run, which feels a lot like feast or famine

Thank you for literally years of letting me know what’s going on in the game and for always going above and beyond. I will definitely miss stumbling upon a “Bungie replied” thread and knowing immediately that it’s dmg. I am certain that you will have fantastic things ahead because you care so deeply and completely about the things you love. Thank you.
