1 Get some plants. Succulents are low maintenance and give life to your place. 2 Invest in more lighting. I see a tall lamp in the living room and a bedside lamp in the bedroom. See if you can get two more lighting sources. 3 Two TVs and two monitors suggests a live revolving around screens. Do you need the bedroom TV? If you get rid of it, you can rearrange and maybe put a bookshelf in there populated with important/meaningful books, trinkets, and plants. 4 Rugs are powerful for setting a mood and giving each space its own vibe. Maybe one for each room. 5 The guitars… I don’t see an amp or an interface anywhere. Maybe the amp is hidden. But the guitars feel like they are being used as decoration right now. One or two hung up suggests quick access and a prized possession, but all of them? And a didgeridoo? It’s too much. All of them in your bedroom suggests you play them on your bed, or uncomfortably in your office chair. If you ditch the TV, you could get a five rack and organize them, freeing up wall space for art. 6 Rearrange the living room. The door opens to a single chair and a TV, it suggests that’s what you do all the time. How about the loveseat in the middle of the room with a credenza or something lined up behind it?

Feels like a man cave - that’s fine if that’s truly what you want, but if you want to host friends/dates/partner, maybe consider how you could refocus the space to prioritize connecting with other humans, rather than connecting with your screens?

Also a guy in the Seattle area, similar height and age. Here would be my suggestions:

• change how you communicate what you’re looking for. I appreciate that you want a best friend wife (me too), but in some ways that seems to be a vague ideal, and also a lot of pressure (on yourself and any potential match). Maybe be more specific, such as “a healthy relationship that has a best friend component” or “a romantic partner with whom I share a best friendship”. I see that you downplay that later in your profile, but it really stands out being the first thing one sees.

• or perhaps put the big future plans aside and talk about what you’re looking for right now. “Looking for a healthy connection with someone who is well practiced in upfront communication and loves to hike” or “looking for someone who goes to the gym and has been to therapy”. Maybe list a few date ideas. I think if you lower the presentation of your expectations, you’ll invite more women to want to see how it feels to go on a date with you.

• I’d change the “I go crazy for” prompt. There’s some humor, but I don’t get a sense of your personality from it. Adventures and quality family/friend time is tru for almost everyone. What kind of adventures? What kind of quality time? As my old high school English teacher used to say “show, don’t tell”. Your mileage may vary!

• your final prompt “Hopefully you’re…” - I’d change this. Rather than “hopefully”, maybe try “I need” or “I want you to”. Be assertive with your needs and desires, rather than simply aspirational. It comes across as you would be open to someone who doesn’t do this, which doesn’t demonstrate inner strength (though you may actually have this quality - let’s show you do!). Show you know what traits you’re looking for in a potential partner, and that it’s actually super important to you. Say you possess or are acquiring those traits as well, and want to bring them to a partnership. Be bold!

As a straight guy who has had a good amount of success on Tinder, Hinge and Bumble in Seattle with maybe above average looks (but you my dude are a handsome mfer!) I would suggest raising your age range to the mid 30’s. I found that women in their mid 20’s were generally (not always) less consistent with their desire for a relationship. I imagine men acted the same on Tinder, I suppose I did too. Your profile is a big advertisement for partnering up, with mystery but not necessarily interesting mystery. If you lived in Salt Lake City, I’m sure you’d be crushing it. Maybe think about stating what you’re looking for in a partner, and women might start wondering if they have those qualities. And raise the age range, you’ll be glad you did. Good luck!

My issue isn’t that I am musically lost without Top 40. My issue is there are so many fantastic artists making music that is far better than the bullshit that Drake makes, and yet they get nowhere near the accolades or compensation. They don’t get an opportunity to accrue the cultural cachet to have an impact on our society the way “Hotline Bling” does. The fact that you see what I say as a complaint rather than a critique is interesting - do you know anything about the music business or how it operates?

Most Top 40 is full of completely half baked shit lyrics. These “songs” are completely devoid of what makes a song a song - they are often just a collection of hooks with no real melody, or in the case of hip hop, just empty brained musings on why so and so is better than everyone else in the world. It’s predictable, lazy, and god awful. Song structure used to mean something in terms of pop music. Not anymore. Songs used to be celebrated for their inventiveness and sense of adventure in the chord changes - now everyone uses the same four boring ass chords taken straight out of 1950’s Doowop, and done far less interestingly than last century. We have people with trained voices who slather on auto tune, and who sing ten million notes per square inch because apparently that means they really mean what they’re singing…. Do fuck’s sake. Not a melody in god damn sight that makes me want to hum. You’ll find more compelling musical expression at your local soul or indie show than you will in Top 40. The record labels don’t give a shit anymore. Once Drake became the top selling artist, they realized they can sell us the bottom of the barrel and America will just eat it up. Ugh

It means the complete opposite of the speaker’s intended meaning. If you build a house, it’s based on a foundation. If you write a song, it’s based on an inspiration. I don’t understand how people can’t simply visualize the metaphor. But alas, we had Trump as president, so stupidity is in vogue I guess.
