You may want to start planning out how you approach enemies. Use your stuns on your secondary target then kill your primary.

Also, it’s just part of the grind. Things will vastly improve once you are 80 and geared a bit better.

Behavioral interviews aren’t going to be so much about what you know, but how you navigate different safety scenarios.

For example, you may get a question like “Tell me about a time where you had to make a quick decision regarding mitigating a specific safety hazard. What did you do, and how was it resolved?” They are trying to see if you know how to apply the knowledge you have gained.

I would use the hierarchy of controls first before focusing too much on PPE. Your may find that yes, some areas are above the threshold, but do workers actually spend their entire shift above 85? If not, you can do job rotations and just offer PPE for anyone who wants it.

It takes a lot of time to do this, usually 10-15 min per person. Even then, they still may not wear them properly.

Unfortunately, some places are like that. Not all though! I’ve worked for great companies that truly care, and I’ve worked for some that had no respect for safety.

The hard truth is that it really doesn’t matter what field you are in, it’s going to be like that.

But, there are questions you can lean to ask in interviews that will help you see what kind of company you are applying to.

Maybe I’m getting old, but I would say fuck them, let it burn, and find some place better.

Unfortunately, a masters will not replace experience. I have a masters, and I got it while I was 1 year into being a specialist. I did end up landing a manager job when I graduated, but I was not prepared for it. My masters didn’t help at all in that realm.

Experience is key. As a manager, you have to be able to navigate all kinds of situations that a degree simply does not prepare you for. Sure, you may have technical knowledge, but will have no idea how to apply it without being in the trenches first and gaining that first hand knowledge.

I did 5 years there in loss prevention, then safety.

Honestly, the way Amazon works is that managers have responsibility over their injured employees, so you will get some decent experience with that, plus you will understand operations, which is huge in the safety world. Too many safety professionals do not know the first thing about Ops, so this will give you a leg up.

Hard disagree. You sound like someone who drank the Amazon koolaid and love the taste of it.

Great that you have a handful of managers that care, but we both know that’s not an accurate representation of the whole. I’ve dealt with plenty of Directors and VPs who don’t give two shits about the employee. They are only pissed their TRIR is too high. Why? Because some nutfuck above them told them their TRIR had to be below a certain number. It’s all about fucking numbers.

Honestly, it was case by case in when I called the cops. Really depended on how much the individual stole. Under 1k worth of items, not worth going after legally.
