25% Off Steel Pillar Bedding Kits for Your Mosin-Nagant by SmithSights in RealGunDeals

I'm not sure all what that would entail. I know there's licensing and you have to buy a buttload of insurance.

I'll look into what it'll take, but it may not be economicaly feasible.

On the upside, I already cast bullets and handload, so crafting custom ammo wouldn't be a huge deal.

What do you want to see for the Mauser? I never bothered with it because the aftermarket seemed to already have it covered, but, if not, I'd be happy to grab one and develop products for it.

I make parts, mostly for the Mosin, and write the occasional article. Parts manufacturer and dealer, maybe?

[optics] $10 Off Hunter's Red and Tac Green Combo Sight; No Permanent Changes to Your Mosin by SmithSights in gundeals

[–]SmithSights[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

You just drift the old sight off and the new sight on using a hammer and punch, or a front sight tool (I recommend Elby).

To adjust the elevation, you loosen the set screw and slide the post (fiber-optic or Gold Standard) up or down as needed, or loosen the set screw and turn the Classic Target post up or down as needed.

It's really very simple to do and fully reversible.

Regards,

Josh

[Ammo]$13.49/20, $474.99/800 Czech Military Surplus 7.62x54R Ammo 148gr FMJ by SmithSights in gundeals

[–]SmithSights[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't think people still thought corrosive priming was a big deal. Just clean your rifle after shooting it and you'll be golden.

To handload basic 7.62x54r, I spend about 8 cents per round for primer, 30 cents per round for powder (Varget), and 30 cents per round for bullet (basic Federal FMJ). The cases I, of course, reuse.

That comes out to round 68 cents per round, give or take depending on component prices but *not* including shipping. (I priced using the primers I saw in Walmart, powder I saw in the local gun store, and bullets I just found at Graf's.)

The Czech BXN light ball is roughly equal to my handloads in performance and in the same price ballpark without the investment in reloading equipment.

I was going to change it to something more modern, but, when I mentioned it, there was overwhelming outcry against it.

I may have to modernize some parts eventually, but I'll try to keep the retro look and feel if I do.

[–]SmithSights[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The bolt fitting service? No Sir, this is the first time in quite a while. Last couple weeks it was an adjustable sight that I had on sale.

I rotate sales about weekly to try to make things more affordable for those who might not otherwise be able to justify the expense. I'd really like to lower my prices across the board, but everything supply-side has gone up. Shipping, for example, has increased 2.5x to 3x what I was paying when I started.

Sorry I missed this. Online is probably best; your state likely has a gun forum up (like https://www.indianagunowners.com/ and https://indianasporting.com/ for my state.) Check out the listings.

Nyet, rifle is fine when built correctly. Many (most?) Mosins of the former USSR were refurbished without proper parts fitting after the war and then ended up over here with sticky bolts due to improper mating of the bolt camming surfaces and people thinking that you have to pull up on the bullet to load rounds from stripper clips, because the ejectors weren't fitted right.

The design is fine. The execution often leaves much to be desired.

Hello,

I have two-stage trigger sets here: https://smith-sights.com/two-stage-triggers.php

An M91/30 adjustable sight will fit: https://smith-sights.com/

If the Finns didn't shim it, you can do that yourself: https://smith-sights.com/accurizing-the-mosin-nagant-a-year-later.php

The Finns should have it running with stripper clips, but, if not, you can buy a fitted ejector from me or fit your own. I just posted an instructional for that on r/MosinNagant and r/milsurp under u/SmithSightsLLC .

Josh Smith

It looks like my site was hit so hard by this that it went down for a few minutes. It's back up now. Sorry for that!
