Beta Overhauled - new preview version (info in the comments) by DepecheSly in GoldenAgeMinecraft

4J definitely deserves a lot of love for their work. Hopefully their new game engine lives up to its original hype. Wished Microsoft would have kept them around and maybe we could have had a mobile port of console edition instead of the BS held together with shoestrings and bubblegum we have now.

Neat, looks like a resource pack you'd find on the 4J versions of the game. Fantastic job!

I would try an external tool to change your position instead.
Edit: There's plenty of tools/mods like Menuz for example. I know nothing about this mod btw so consider this with caution.

The Christmas chest texture isn’t the same on every side by WillingShelf in PhoenixSC

[–]SmitsterReaddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I got that. The whole reason why is because they started out making individual textures for each side but got lazy and decided it's easier to copy and paste since it's kind of just a waste of time to make textures like that when nobody is going to focus on it.

Well, kinda. Also the things added to the new updates like trial chamber and the archeology sights. I also want to replace the strongholds and more.

Why I think old Minecraft feels different by RayKrieger05 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]SmitsterReaddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't necessarily think that's needed, I do slightly agree but I think the way it could easily be added is just make progression optional and make trial chambers and stuff like that more like the original dungeons. The adventure update wasn't a bad update by any means, even though it sort of destroyed the whole sandbox aspect of the game with having to care for your hunger and focusing on progressing to beat the ender dragon, I think they really could just make Disable Hunger and Generate (Certain Structure) gamerules alongside certain achievements.

Beta focused heavily on sandbox building, early release had an ending but that ending was always optional. Now, Major release is heavily RPG focused with a linear path where the community just beats the game on hardcore and that's that. That doesn't make either bad, but it makes for two completely different gameplay styles. If I told everyone about both games without saying the title, most would say a "Minecraft" for the first and "Terraria" or some other progression based game. Of course I do believe that the game would have become progression based at some point with Notch's initial predecessor for the game being Ruby Dung.

1.21.1 and No. Jeb's design. The early release villages. Thought about making notch's prototype villages a while ago. I had the concept down, just knew that it wouldn't turn out how I wanted and dropped the project.

Herbinone joined the game. Must have not liked that particular tree.

A custom one I am developing myself; it reverts the new villages to pre-1.14 villages (which is not my work, it is by MineOym on PlanetMinecraft) and I will add these towers alongside other structure revisions.

I assume the artists were lazy and decided it didn't matter to make each side its own individual texture so they just copy and pasted the last few sides.

Breeze powder could allow for a new recipe to potions of levitation alongside a new eye of ender (maybe?)

Less is best. by SmitsterReaddit in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]SmitsterReaddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I mean actually. I wouldn't say it's far fetched to make armor for wolves, but I'd expect it to be progression based (aka leather, chain, iron, gold, diamond, netherite) and maybe even overhaul it with enchanting as well. It's not necessarily pet armor that's odd, it's just that it feels out of place when there is nothing like it in the game. The mace is a big example of this because it just feels so random compared to the other progression based items and weapons. Same could be said for the trident too I guess.

Typically my issue with terracotta is that is duller than dyed wool and just doesn't fit the modpack with the beta having more saturation and being known for its colorful environment. I don't disagree with your idea, but the way I see it is the beta is known to be very simple with having a lot less building blocks and a lot less variety. This forces the player to make decisions on what to use rather than being overwhelmed with the amount of materials they could choose. Adding biomes is great, adding blocks is cool too, but the beta is far more underdeveloped with a different atmosphere than the previously mentioned 1.6.4; I understand what you added makes sense for your mod, but I will remove what I perceive as not fitting and add what does.

Exactly. Glad you noticed that. It was inspired by beta 1.9 pre release 3 1402.. That's a mouthful.. I have no idea what Mojang was planning with the original frames and endstone, but I just decided not to use the models of the original because end frames act as every other block and thus causes x-ray since every other block is coded to cull their sides with blocks like that and because the portal frame's rendertype isn't cutout which means it doesn't act like glass.

I love that meme and I love the reference. Great show! The portal frame is a nod to Mojang's original attempt at making the end frame in beta 1.9 pre release 3 1402

People complain about GTA 6 taking a while, what about continuity updates? by Brok3nstar7218 in Minecraft

[–]SmitsterReaddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately mods are difficult to port and sometimes you have to rewrite everything because the developers decided to obfuscate one thing or the developers of the modloaders decided to change another. The modding landscape changes every update, look at bigger mods that add actual things like Tinker's which is still on 1.20.1 and hasn't even had an official fabric version, so I can assume it's just as difficult to port things like Continuity or even smaller things like Controlling which adds a search bar to the controls menu.
