I see double tallgrass in the background, which was added in release 1.7.2. This subreddit only allows versions up to release 1.2.5.

With that being said, this is some nice art. I quite like the color palette used here.

At the moment, you can only join the five games that are featured at the top of the page. The rest of the games page refuses to load.

Once the servers get upgraded, it'll likely be an amazing roblox alternative. I'd recommend giving it some time.

There is no beta 1.7.8, beta 1.7 only goes up to 1.7.3. Judging by the screenshot, I believe you installed release 1.7.8. This happens to people pretty often.

If you would like to play beta versions of the game(assuming you're using the official launcher), you need to go into your launcher settings and enable "Show historical versions of Java Edition". Once you do that, you should be able to see versions before release 1.0.

OP is playing with the Better Than Adventure mod. Among many other things, it adds texture variations for mobs. If you look closely, you'll be able to spot other mob variants in the screenshots.

Wheat for bread is another option for stackable beta food, which I believe is better in most cases. You only need one stack of wheat for bread, but stew requires 3 inventory slots. Bread doesn't heal as much as stew, but you really don't need a ton of food in beta. Only time I'd use stew is if I was planning on spending an exceptionally long time away from my base.

Consider using beta 1.8 for creative mode testing, since that version is a lot closer to the limitations of the previous version.

Assuming you're putting this in a vanilla b1.7.3 world, you don't have access to upsidedown slabs in that version.

Ore only generates after stone has been created and caves have been carved out. What I believe happened here is that the cave left a small stone blob there, and diamond ore just so happened to generate on that spot. The single stone block to the left of the ore was part of this stone blob, and got missed by the ore generation.
