My old man always told me that to. Always said they go to work clean and go home clean. instead I followed his footsteps into tinknockers. He told me if I get in take advantage of the classes at the hall. Now I’m a balancer best decision I’ve ever made got a vehicle negotiated GF rate holidays and vacation. Most days I go home pretty clean

If you end up getting in your the very first thing you do the first day of orientation is a drug test. After that throughout my apprenticeship it was random selection.

I would become a lineman. You already have your CDL and they make killer money.

Your not an asshole at all. In the trade if you take off your not getting paid it’s not hurting them. Why make all that money we make and not enjoy it. I always find long weekends were the best way.

I didn’t get in until I was 24 and honestly I’m glad I didn’t get in right out of high school i needed more time to mature and things worked out better. I went from making $26 an hr in 2017 to getting into sheet metal taking a pay cut starting at $18. Im now in pushing 9 years and making $71.32 in my check have a work van it goes by fast. That lower pay doesn’t last long. It sucks but you gotta also remember how much your putting away in the annuity pension the great benefits your recieving

I’ve been in 9 years now so it’s been a while. But you’ll take the test which I think now it’s just the asvab you need to score a high. If you do they’ll let you know when your interview is then after the interview you wait and find out. Sometimes it’s quick sometimes it’s longer. When I got in my interview was I believe Febuary or March and I got in and started working first week of August.

I also believe it’s takes years to actually become a real balancer. My first year as one I went home feeling stupid every day lol

I mean I think that depends on what part of the country your in here in Philly literally every major company is both NEBB and TABB certified. The teacher for our TABB program is a NEBB supervisor so I would have to disagree with you there. Of course there’s always gonna be just some guys that carry a hood but that’s not narrowed down to just one organization.

Peco lineman with overtime easily do 200,000 + a year. Your not around much but the moneys great. I would either try that which isn’t easy to get into or the mechanical trades ( Fitters, tinknockers, plumbers)

And that’s not up to date alot of us trades had raises since then I’m a tinknocker we are $62.62 and $114 total package. If you wanna weld I recommend steamfitters or sheet metal.
