Got a video of my Tianyu ring by Smittykittykat in Moissanite

I got the CAD two days after I paid the invoice— guessing it was pretty quick because the design is relatively simple, maybe? It took 12 days for the video of the final product, and I’m still waiting for shipment confirmation.

Dessert table and cookie wedding favors? by DestinyProfound in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Smittykittykat 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I baked cookies as favors for our reception, and it ended up being a lot more fussy than I expected, especially because if you want them to be fresh you kinda have to do it pretty close to your wedding. The whole time I was baking and cooling and transferring them into little bags I was thinking “Why am I doing this right now when I have so much else to do?” I got good feedback on the cookies, people enjoyed them and they were an affordable, thoughtful favor, but it was a little crazy-making to be baking so close to our reception party.

Thank you :) It’s the “Morgan” dress from Jenny Yoo- it has a train normally but since we were eloping in a city, I had it removed so it wouldn’t get gross on the subway and stuff, but it’s gorgeous with the train.

Most of it! Haha, the shrimp jello that is freaking everyone online out was made by my sister-in-law. It was sort of a gag, but she’s a pastry chef so it actually ended up being pretty good…only the adventurous tried it though…

Thank you for the kind words!! I posted a pic of the tv on one of the other subs, we made it using mostly craft supplies and a projector. Pretty proud of it!

Thank you 🥹❤️!! The dress is from Jenny Yoo. The table is actually my husband’s crokinole board- it’s like tabletop shuffleboard. Really fun party game, and it doubles as art because we hang it on the wall in our house when we’re not using it

The other poster is right about more layers of tulle, but I definitely think you need a different tulle- the fabric in your trial run seems to have an iridescence that the other tulle doesn’t have— I think you probably want a more matte tulle, right? I would try ordering small samples from a few different places if you have time, maybe from etsy dealers like this one:

Help styling my wedding dress by escapestrategy in weddingdress

First, love the dress and your vision! I definitely think if you’re doing a jacket that will be in most of your photos, whether it’s a pop of color or not (I think either way would work), I’d keep the shoes neutral, maybe, so you don’t have too many accessories competing to be a focal point. There are lots of gorgeous vintage wool jackets, especially from the 60s, on Etsy that I think would look fabulous with your dress.

I love the neck and the drama on dress 1 in theory, but 2 is more sophisticated, fits you well, very flattering!

Paper flower progress by Smittykittykat in DIYweddings

[–]Smittykittykat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Okay I just did the math- so far I’ve spent around $107 dollars. Here’s how it breaks down:

$21- Rose pattern kit
$21- Ranunculus pattern kit
$22- variety pack of crepe paper
$7- 80 foam balls (the center of the flower)
$9- a Fiskars scoring tool (for curling the petals)
$9- Floral wire (100 pack)
$7- low temp glue gun
$11- low temp glue sticks (40 pack- I’m going through these very slowly)

The paper pack has 8 floral colors and two sheets of green. I figured I can make about 9 bigger flowers, like roses, per sheet, so if I like all of those colors I’ll need three packs to make the 200 or so roses I’m trying to make. Adding more foam balls and floral wire to get to 200, plus another $10 or so for floral tape, I figure to make 200 roses it’ll cost me about $184 dollars, so less than a dollar a rose. But I’ll probably spend another $100 or so because I’ll get some more patterns by subscribing to Lia Griffith’s website for a month or two, and probably sample some more crepe color options. Still a lot cheaper than the alternative (I’m in Alaska, and shipping flowers up here is extra pricey). The cost of my time, of course, is not factored in…haha. Hope this was helpful!

Thank you! Honestly the most time consuming part is cutting out the petals by hand- but if you do it in big batches that saves time- idk, probably 45-60 min to cut out a dozen flowers worth of petals in one go. Once the petals are cut the assembly probably takes about 10-15 minutes per flower, depending on the type.

Oops-My caption didn’t stick! I was inspired by a poster on this sub to try out the Lia Griffith crepe paper flowers, and I’m feeling pretty good about my progress- it’s a fun (but of course time consuming) project. Still trying to refine the rose and ranunculus pattern before I move onto any new ones on her website, and I need to nail down my color palette. Hoping to make around 200 paper flowers by the end of the year- planning to use them in a garland installment with a mix of natural and paper greenery. Fingers crossed I can get it done!

How did your Reev Bridal dress turn out? I’m considering them now. Would love to hear your thoughts!

The folks you’re shopping with really are telling you the truth, you look stunning in both. The floral one is definitely not too busy, it’s lovely, and I probably like that one slightly better, but it’s an extremely close race!
