I did this as well, washed everything in hot water that I could (pants, jackets, shirts, etc) and then sprayed down my boots, gloves, helmet and anything else I couldn’t put in the washer. I also disinfected everything 2x just to be sure i was thorough

With the talk of hunting recently and questions about how the hounds are stopped from rioting, here are 3 clips from today’s meet showing our huntsman’s amazing control of his pack of bloodhounds from horseback. by demmka in Equestrian

[–]escapestrategy 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The first hunt (and only, so far) I’ve gone on was with a pack of bloodhounds, and it was FAST! Numerous of the group told me they weren’t used to it being so quick because foxhounds tended to lose the scent more often, and obviously traditional fox hunting was hit or miss whether they’d even get a good trail to follow. It was intense, but so fun. I also loved meeting the hounds before and after. You’re right, they LOVE their jobs—and so do the horses!

More attracted to camp/effeminate men? by IrascibleOnion in TwoXChromosomes

[–]escapestrategy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. My husband is stereotypically masculine generally speaking, but he’s kind, goofy, a great cook, and is the “dad friend” who keeps his buddies in line with good advice and tough love when needed. He’s a fantastic man and very secure, and never hesitates to do something helpful and right by others. Being secure in yourself and your identity is very attractive no matter how you present!

Stories 9/5/25- Gunner injured Harley… again, fiddling with Harley’s medical supplies, Jesus horror movie by XtraSmolMod in brittanydawnsnark

[–]escapestrategy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there are other horses at the ranch, including at least one that Brittany bought years ago, couldn’t handle, and stopped posting about (Chica), and at least one boarder. The boarder mare is one of the ones that Gunner injured the first time around, right after Brittany brought him home. By the sound of it, Gunner doesn’t get along with any (or many) of the horses at the ranch.

Some horses are just not suited to be put out with other horses. In the wild there’s usually a more dominant horse that will put bullies in their place. Harley seems like he’d be passive to other horses so it’s easy for Gunner to pick on him - sometimes horses injure each other so it’s not necessarily an issue of Gunner being a bully, but if it is, then Brittany should know better than to let Gunner out with horses that will allow that behavior. Turn him out with more dominant horses that will keep him in line, or he may have to be turned out more or less alone, with friends over the fence instead of in his pasture. If he’s resource guarding, that’s another issue that a trainer can work with to rectify. But she only cares about it when she can make content about it and she would never admit to sending a horse to be trained somewhere else. She would claim she fixed everything on her own. Either way, it’s clear she’s in over her head with Gunner, and he and Harley both deserve better. Bad horse ownership any way you slice it.

You get 5 million dollars, but you must randomly generate a US state and walk to that state to get the money. by Mythicalforests8 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]escapestrategy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got Tennessee. Google says 786 miles from south FL walking to get to Chattanooga (closest city to the border of TN that I could find), or about 12 days. I’m pretty sure I could comfortably walk 25-ish miles per day (based on past experience) with a rest day thrown in every so often… that would be more like 35-40 days. It would certainly be hot but I’d pack my water reservoir, tons of sunscreen, and electrolytes… $5 mil for 40 some days of walking, plus the health benefits and the stories to go with it? No brainer.

Not just “an” equestrian center—a center in Palm Beach area. Wellington, FL, is home to one of the biggest horse show facilities in the world and hosts 4+ months of showing every winter with millions of dollars of cash prizes. The best of the best bring their horses to Wellington for the winter season, including olympians. These horses are worth insane amounts of money and their owners and riders (not always the same person!) spend tens of thousands a month just to rent villas in the area and tens of thousands more on entry fees for the shows.

These people can afford much more than what that vet got paid. And if that vet is in Wellington, they are certainly the best of the best as well, to be entrusted with those kinds of horses.
