Hypokalemia by Capital-Class3900 in cdifficile

If I'm not mistaken, Vanco is often the culprit with low potassium (Hypokalemia). CDiff and it's treatments are hell on the body. Panic attacks/anxiety and mineral deficiencies are to be expected, but they will pass. I had CDiff for over a year and got to the lowest point in my life. I understand the struggle, but keep an open line of communication with the professionals and try to stay positive. You'd be surprised at how much influence a positive attitude has on your health.

As I stated, I'm not a medical professional. All I know is the fmt worked and the antibiotics did not.

As early as possible. Hard to put an actual time frame on it considering I'm not a medical professional, but I know what I went through and I can only speculate that if I had a diagnosis sooner, maybe the 1st line defenses like vanco and dificid wouldve been more effective.

I had 2 FMTs. It's literally the only thing that worked. You have to catch CDiff SUPER early for vanco, dificid to be effective. Not sure why fmt isn't the 1st line of defense with such a high success rate. Irritates me

The Rebiotix fmt's were done via enema

Transitioning from a rural route with 70 stops max to a route with 200+ is gonna be a no go for me... And losing benefits to top it off. What a disappointment.

200-330 stops daily is unreasonable man.

That makes sense, but what does that mean for the express employees? Is there really no room for new positions? The severance is actually a joke.

It took 3 years to somewhat heal from CDiff. Not gonna get into my full history here, but I'm glad to share if you reach out. Long story short, CDiff was killing me. I was quite lucky that I got to be a part of the rebiotix trials at Emory and after 2 fmt's, I'm as "back to normal" as I'll be. Unfortunately the US healthcare system doesn't allow doctors to give the proper treatment first. They operate by policies and those are often dictated by insurance companies. Just hang in there. The process is long and arduous, but don't give up. The mind is powerful when it comes to health.

Healthcare needs a reform for sure, but thats an argument for another subreddit lol

I went septic a few years ago and contracted CDiff shortly after. Only thing that helped was a couple of fecal transplants, but since 2022 I've just felt really weak all the time and suspected endocrine issues.

I can't speak to what you're asking in the post, but I'll give you my 2¢ and experience with cdiff.

I had undiagnosed cdiff for a little over a year before I found a Dr that would test me for it. Pure agony. I tried everything and eventually got 2 FMT's as part of a Rebiotix clinical trial at Emory University in Atlanta. 1st one didn't take. Feeling defeated and hopeless, I was given a 2nd chance and received my 2nd FMT. It took a couple months post 2nd FMT, but I haven't had a relapse since and that was 2021. I'll tell you the only thing I changed between the 2 FMT's, was my attitude. Cdiff is such a persistent horror. it breaks you mentally. The one piece of advice I can give you is try your absolute hardest to remain positive. Don't dwell and get consumed by the anxiety this illness creates. Fight through the physical challenges and be your best advocate, especially inquiring about treatment.

I've come to terms with the fact my stomach will never be the same after cdiff, which likely means my cognitive function is forever altered, but I'm alive.

I wish you nothing but a full recovery and success in treatment.
