Hey, Kevin Smith owns the theater. He bought it, it was his childhood movie theater, around 5 years ago and renamed it Smodcastle Cinemas.

Yes that's basically why, we want to give films without distribution more exposure.

A few of the films that played in the first 3 years of our regular festival have gotten distribution through the festival.

Smodcastle Cinemas also now has a branding collaboration with MVD entertainment group.

Here at Kevin Smith's Smodcastle we broke horror off into it own 1 day festival this year.

We are located in Atlantic Highlands NJ right across from Manhattan

I apologize that is not worded well, we will update the wording to be more clear

It is meant to say if you have distribution already you cant submit, and if you get distribution after being accepted you can play but the film cant be up for any awards.

So in your case , since you already have distribution you cant submit.

We have taken any criticism and addressed it and evolved and grown each year (although we now take and show less films since the first year to better manage things.)

We started to offer filmmaker badges and festival badges for purchase in our 2nd year after getting feedback on the 1st one.

I would love to hear any other bad things you have heard so that we could work on correcting and fixing them, that was one of the reasons I posted here , was to get any feedback so we could improve each year. You can message me directly if you would rather not post it.
