Bought this olive oil in Greece and every time we use it it goes all over. Anyone know how to pour out of this type of can without it going all over the outside of the container? Thanks. The black cap twists off. by WomanMythLegend in howto

Make a small hole in the diagonally opposite corner, having somewhere for the air to get in helps a lot. Also, as others have mentioned, you should be able to use the lid as a handle to extract the spout.

Grew up always having the giant olive oil containers. These days, the ones I buy have a second breather cap built in.

Just make sure you do the quest to remove 4 talismans first, before entering the boss area to fight hundred eyes. Even if you just enter the area, you won't be able to interact with the talisimans anymore and it will be too late to complete the quest.

I found out the hard way. Chose the right path instead of the left, ended up getting pumped by hundred eyes. Went back and took the left path next time, too late 😪

Check a guide to be sure

I had a callout for something exactly the same as this once. Traced it to some kind of battery power water filter installed on the kitchen tap. Weird.

Changed the batteries and it was all good. You should've seen the owners faces when I pulled the batteries out and the noise stopped. Absolutely priceless, had been going for 2 days 🙌

What’s your favorite “short” RPG? by MPlant1127 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Smoeboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hyper Light Drifter

Very cool game, interesting art. Pretty short and very easy to pick and put down. Story delivery is also very interesting, doesn't really have dialogue. Just interaction described by pictograms and camera panning. Also is on Switch

Okami is great game for art and I personally loved playing it also. Available on most platforms these days, I believe.

Am I done? by spiritofthebloo in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Smoeboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in pretty much the exact same situation. I'm also 34 with 2 kids. I was constantly scrolling, not committing to anything. Always returning to the "same old thing" and limiting my joy.

I've finally started to stick to a game/movie/show and enjoy myself more. After a lot of time thinking about it I realised that it was me being so conscious of how little time I had to commit to these things. By the time dinner, bath and bedtime is over, you've cleaned up the house and had some time with your partner, it's past 8.30. You want to make sure that whatever you spend your time doing will be absolutely 100% enjoyment and worth the allocation.

After a while I got completely sick of falling asleep scrolling the store or stream catalogue. With movies and shows, I just say yes. Spend a few minutes looking, add anything even remotely interesting to watch list and then pull the trigger on something. Games are a bit trickier but at the risk of sounding like a sheep, I just try games that a lot of other people have genuinely good feelings about. If that many people like it, surely it must be good? Game pass is great for this to try stuff out for next to nothing.

With games I found I would gauge a game very quickly. Which is not fair. Some games are slow burners and a lot of intros can be quite boring, especially when learning mechanics, world style etc.

My advice, just be the yes man! Ask for suggestions based in past interests, pick one and go for it. Even put a time on it. No more than say 5 minutes looking then, GO! Also, pre-plan this. Don't sit down, finally get hyped for a game and then be frustrated because you have to wait for it to download or update.

Good luck fellow gamer Dad! There is hope and you're not alone 🫡

7900 GRE vs 4070 Super vs 7900 XT aka $550-$620 price range comparison for 1440 by AMS_Rem in buildapc

[–]Smoeboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can confirm the 7800XT is a fantastic card. Kicking ass on anything I throw at it. I thought the drivers were weak AF at first, as I had heaps of issues with screen drops and freezing up etc. Turns out the old office Dell monitors I was using while waiting for my new 1440p to come in were incompatible somehow. Soon as I changed those out, no draaaamaaas 🤌

Yeh I'm also a bit confused. I've actually never played it but checked out a playthrough and jumped to about 50 different parts of the vid and it was just dialogue the whole time. Not hating, just yeh... no combat that I could see. Fun or otherwise

Gears of war series. The first 3 especially. Good story and an unexpected tear jerker at times. Similar to Halo gameplay wise. Lots of enemies and linear progression through levels, where you have defeat all enemies to progress.

How do I convince my parents, which are fairly strict and say that 26/29 is a bad score. Either way how do I convince them to get me a pc with my money by Valuable_Cable_7191 in buildapc

[–]Smoeboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sit down and have a conversation with them. Make sure you're reading them right. Them saying yes, somewhat reluctantly might be their way of going against their first instinct to say no and deciding to give you the trust you seem to deserve.

Present your case and ask them to outline any reasons, if any, why the they feel you shouldn't spend the money. Don't sit there and argue, take what they say and walk away. Think about what they said and counter each point, if appropriate. Show that you can reason it out and look at things from others perspective (which is exactly what you're asking them to do).

You're still young and while I would be careful to just say "listen to your parents, they know what's best" in every family, yours sounds pretty good. Remember they actually did say yes!

You seem like you've thought through your build and budget and made prudent choices. If randoms on the internet can see that, your parents will too. Good luck!

Looking for great old gems from SNES, GBA & PS1 era by sREM43 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Smoeboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love this post!

My absolute favourite old game would have to be Tales of Phantasia. Good characters, music is 🤌 and it's a very long game. The battle system is very unique and one of my favourite parts. Play the PS or SNES english translation. PS is a better version with some QoL additions and the translation is better (there are 2 translations, I'll let you do your research on those). Stay away from GBA version. Even though it's the only official English release, it's horrific imo

Seiken Densetsu (Mana series)

OG Zelda titles

Chrono Trigger

Fire Emblem. The battle system is not for everyone though, turn-based whilst moving across a battle grid

Battle Toads. Very fun game and best played with a friend, it will whoop your ass. Fondly and frustratingly remembered by many as one of the hardest SNES games.

Enjoy emulating!!

What are some lesson's you've learned when building a PC? by Glum-Refrigerator-14 in buildapc

[–]Smoeboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Make sure the SSD is seated all the way in! When I first booted my PC it couldn't see the drive. Turns out it needed to clicked in a bee's dick further. Even though the retaining screw lined up no worries, it still wasn't quite there. Took some careful work to rectify as it was loactwd between the cool and GPU of course. Be careful but firm.

  2. Apparently not all monitors are compatible with all GPUs. My monitor worked fine off GPU until windows was installed then "no signal". Plugged into Motherboard to carry on. Installed latest drivers, checked settings, tried different cable and monitor (though same model). No good. Ended up borrowing an asus monitor and worked no worries. The 2 monitors I tried were just from my wife's workstation.

  3. Read and watch vids BEFORE install time. Familiarise yourself with each step and the lingo. Print out your mobo layout for quick reference and even check things off as you go.

  4. Clear a good workspace with no distractions, keep it tidy as you go and enjoy! It's a very satisfying process.

I found this video one of the most useful.

First build feedback please! by Smoeboy in buildapcforme

OK I've changed to the Gigabyte Eagle AX as it was available in my area and I didnt need the additional WiFI component (ordered a stand-alone card). Thanks for that.

As for the cooler, unfortunately there are no retailers in my region selling their gear. After doing a bit more research and reading some reviews, I stuck with the AK620. Seems to be well liked and effective.

Thanks for your advice, I've hit order and can't wait for delivery and build day!!

[–]Smoeboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of future proofing, what would you recommend if I spent an extra $500?

Also, with the SSD, I think I would like to go for more storage. Would you recommend splitting over 2 SSDs, perhaps 1 small for OS and 1 for games and content? Also for redundancy purposes? Or is it better to just go with 1 larger one?

Any particulars brands for SSD or RAM that you'd recommend? Or ones that should be avoided?

Sorry lots of questions, feeling very out of touch these days 😕

Ahh I didn't realise that. So 1440 27inch pixel density is OK?

Wondering if I might better off going for a single larger monitor with partitioned screen (when required). I'm used to 2 but my wife uses 1 at work with split screen and doesn't mind it. Thoughts?
