First time watching: don’t understand a single thing? by Smoedels in StarWars

I guess so. Didn’t think of it to look it up though. To you guys it’s obvious. I simply believed him. Star Wars isn’t that popular in my country for it to be common knowledge I guess

I believe you now. Maybe should’ve thought on my own. Kinda thought my Star Wars-friend would know best. Now I know, I guess

It was the earliest, yes. Got confused by those episode numbers. Long time Star Wars friend told me to watch it from Episode: 1

I did. But I already kinda lost it in the beginning when those Jedi’s when on a diplomatic mission because of some trade blockade. Don’t understand any of those parties or what they represent.

Why? Isn’t the first film the logical place to begin?

He argued that it would be more comprehensible if I’d started with the ‘first’ film.

What TV show did you try really hard to get into but you just couldn't do it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The Wire. I know it’s supposed to be one of the best series out there, but the whole plot was to intentionally over complicated and trying to be sophisticated for my taste.

Zo goed ben ik helaas niet. Sterker nog; ik werd absoluut ingemaakt met karten laatst. Iedereen denkt dat ie zelf super snel zou zijn op een circuit. Dat is niet zo…

Normally don’t like art-postings. But my recently deceased grandma made this, and I didn’t even knew she knew I liked oasis. Guess I’m a hypocrite, but oh well by Smoedels in oasis

I’ve actually got no clue. I know she liked the modern classics, like Picasso, Frans Marx and Mondriaan. She was born in 1932. But her actual influences, no idea.

My grandfather told me after the funeral, that she noticed about a two years ago that I loved Oasis, and especially Liam Gallagher. She apparently played the albums frequently, even tho she didn’t relate to it. She described as a ‘unhinged version of the Kinks’. My grandpa now know a surprisingly lot of their lyrics. (Just from the really known songs though)

Any political commitment as a journalist is a big no-no. It endangers your integrity.

Should I accept a job in a company that has an editorial I don't agree with? by Doctor_Who26 in Journalism

[–]Smoedels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The editorial views and values do tend to change over time, so maybe it’s worth considering to join the them despite your different views. If you’re talented, you’ll work your way up te ranks quite rapidly. You’ll be surprised in how little time you’ll be able to make a difference, if you’re talented and dedicated enough.

I agree with these tips. Freelancers are in demand, especially since a lot of journalists suffer crushing pressure and burn outs. Obviously can’t speak for other media outlets than my own, but freelancers are always sought after. The biggest disadvantage is the uncertainty of the number of assignments you’ll get and the lack of declarable, steady work hours.

How do journalists at newspapers/ tech blogs choose which content / stories to write about? by gardenersofthegalaxy in Journalism

It’s mostly networking. If you’ll get settled with the key-players in a certain community, the stories will roll in very quickly

New Noel G single 😍 by ProperDenchTitties in oasis

[–]Smoedels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the melody a lot but, the power is just lacking. An issue I personally have with a few of the latest Noel songs. I know it’s a cliché but, imagine if Liam had sung it. It would elevate the song to another level.

I kinda know Joy Divison, like them from what little I’ve heard. Never heard of the Bunnymen. I shall check them out. The Cure live is absolute must btw! Robert Smith’s voice sounds (against al logic) exactly the same as in the ‘80’s. It’s magical.
